Job description

Semiconductor Field Service Engineer
Local candidates are preferred due to the hands-on, on-site training requirements of this role. However, we are open to considering remote candidates who are willing and able to spend time in our office during the initial training period to ensure successful onboarding and skill development
Summary/Objective
Forge Nano Inc, a fast-growing materials company with a focus on manufacturing nano-scale coating equipment across a wide range of markets, is seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer specializing in Semiconductor equipment. This position covers a broad range of advanced service duties, including servicing equipment in the field, performing remote/virtual service calls, participating in continual improvement efforts and interacting frequently in customer-facing situations, which require a friendly, patient and professional attitude.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
  • Perform on-site installation, service, modification and repair of Semiconductor ALD coating equipment, with a focus on quality and customer satisfaction
  • Troubleshoot new problems remotely and in the field efficiently
  • Co-author and follow necessary documentation for procedures, processes, and best practices including work instructions, standard operating procedures and completing relevant checklists
  • Support in-house semiconductor tool operations, demo coatings and maintenance requirements
  • Interface with Forge Nano's R&D, Operations and Engineering teams for continuous improvement projects
  • Order / install parts and help manage inventory system
  • Maintain a safe work environment and staying OSHA compliant with relevant safety training
  • Adhere to both internal and customer standards of conduct
  • Professionally represent the company to the customer
  • Initiate management of changes or corrective action requests for continual improvement

Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree with 4+ years' experience OR Technical Associate's Degree or equivalent military training with 8+ years' experience
  • Industry-relevant field service and customer service experience
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.; CRM platforms, etc.

Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Prior experience in service and equipment repair in a cleanroom environment
  • Basic understanding of semiconductor deposition techniques and equipment design
  • Prior experience in installation, troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of capital chemical processing equipment, while complying with customer procedures
  • Understanding of industrial safety standards and handling of hazardous materials
  • Able to travel frequently, and on short notice if required
  • Excellent customer-facing communication skills
  • Experience following and/or writing work instructions and standard operating procedures
  • Diligent organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks with stringent deadlines
  • Flexibility to take support calls outside regular business hours

Work Environment
Work is carried out in our large technical facility, remotely and at customer locations, often in cleanrooms and frequently with minimal physical clearance. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may handle hazardous chemicals at times. The employee will be required to wear all appropriate safety equipment including but not limited to eye protection, gloves, steel toe shoes, lab coat, etc. An employee in this position works in an environment in which safety, environmental and health concerns may demand constant attention. Strict adherence to corporate and/or plant policies, rules and regulations in these areas is required. Employee will also be subject to customer safety policies and procedures during field service visits.

The employee occasionally will work near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is moderate. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear or communicate. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk and reach with hands and arms. Lifting of containers upwards of 50lbs will be required periodically.
Travel
This role requires approximately 50% travel, including regular and frequent trips, sometimes on short notice. Travel may be both domestic and international; therefore, all candidates must possess a valid and current passport.

Compensation/Benefits
  • This is a Full-Time hourly position, with possible overtime at 1.5x. Expected hourly rate range is $40-52/hour, based on qualifications and related experience.
