Get to Know the Opportunity:
As an IT Security Manager supporting Authentication, Authorization, and Web Security Operations, you will lead a high-performing team responsible for securing customer-facing platforms while enabling digital innovation. This role is critical in modernizing how work is managed and delivered-driving structured intake, workflow transformation, and operational excellence across core security services.
You will partner closely with Digital, Application Development, and Business teams to ensure security solutions are delivered efficiently, transparently, and at scale. Success in this role requires a balance of technical leadership, process discipline, and strong stakeholder engagement.
This role is remote; however, candidates must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of one of the following Voya office locations: Windsor, CT; Boston, MA; Atlanta, GA; Minneapolis, MN; or Charleston, SC to support periodic onsite collaboration and team engagements.
The Contributions You'll Make:Team Leadership & Delivery
  • Lead and manage a team of ~8-10 engineers responsible for authentication, API security, and web security platform delivery
  • Drive team productivity, accountability, and output optimization
  • Establish clear ownership, priorities, and expectations across the team

Intake, Process & Workflow Transformation (CORE FOCUS)
  • Build and enforce structured intake processes for work requests from digital/application teams
  • Transition the team from ad hoc tracking (email/spreadsheets) to formal workflow management (e.g., ServiceNow)
  • Define SLAs, prioritization models, and delivery timelines
  • Implement tracking, reporting, dashboards, and performance metrics
  • Ensure consistent visibility into work status, throughput, and delivery outcomes

Stakeholder Engagement
  • Partner closely with Digital, Application Development, and Business teams
  • Translate business requests into structured, actionable work for the team
  • Act as a liaison between technical teams and business stakeholders
  • Ensure clear communication of delivery timelines, risks, and outcomes

Platform & Security Delivery
  • Oversee delivery and configuration across key platforms including:
    • IBM Verify Identity Access (formerly WebSEAL / ISVA)
    • IBM DataPower (API management layer)
    • Authentication and access management solutions
  • Ensure secure, scalable support of customer-facing applications
  • Guide the team in implementing changes, enhancements, and configurations

Operational & Process Excellence
  • Drive continuous improvement in how work is executed and delivered
  • Introduce governance, quality control, and accountability frameworks
  • Improve consistency in documentation, intake, and delivery practices
    Minimum Knowledge & Experience:
    • Proven experience managing technical teams (7+ direct reports preferred)
    • Strong experience in Identity & Access Management (IAM), authentication, or web security environments
    • Demonstrated success implementing or improving:
      • Workflow processes
      • Intake models
      • SLAs and delivery tracking
      • Operational reporting and dashboards
    • Experience working closely with application development or digital product teams
    • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
    Preferred Knowledge & Experience / Nice-to-Have

    Compensation Pay Disclosure:

    Voya is committed to pay that's fair and equitable, which means comparable pay for comparable roles and responsibilities.

    The below annual base salary range reflects the expected hiring range(s) for this position in the location(s) listed. In addition to base salary, Voya offers incentive opportunities (i.e., annual cash incentives, sales incentives, and/or long-term incentives) based on the role to reward the achievement of annual performance objectives. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Voya Financial is willing to pay at the time of this posting.

    Actual compensation offered may vary from the posted salary range based upon the candidate's geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

    $114,480 - $170,070 USD
