What is a remote staffing?

A Remote Staffing job involves hiring employees or contractors who work from a location outside of a traditional office, often from home or a co-working space. These roles can include various positions across industries such as IT, customer service, marketing, and administration. Companies use remote staffing to access a wider talent pool, reduce operational costs, and improve workforce flexibility. Employees communicate and collaborate using digital tools like email, video conferencing, and project management software.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in remote staffing?

To excel in Remote Staffing, you should have experience in talent acquisition, strong organizational abilities, and familiarity with remote workforce management. Using applicant tracking systems (ATS), video interviewing platforms, and HR information systems is common, along with any relevant HR certifications. Key soft skills include excellent communication, adaptability, and proactive problem-solving to manage distributed teams and client relationships. These competencies ensure an efficient hiring process, effective team integration, and a positive client and candidate experience in a fully remote environment.

What are some unique challenges faced in remote staffing roles, and how can they be managed effectively?

Remote Staffing professionals often encounter challenges like coordinating across multiple time zones, ensuring clear communication among distributed team members, and building trust with both clients and candidates virtually. Successfully managing these challenges usually involves leveraging technology for streamlined communication, maintaining transparent processes, and implementing strong onboarding practices. Building rapport through regular check-ins and fostering a collaborative remote culture are also important. By addressing these areas, remote staffing specialists can optimize hiring outcomes and create a supportive, efficient remote work environment for all parties involved.

Job description

The Opportunity

We are recruiting Board Certified / Board Eligible Diagnostic Radiologists to provide fully remote interpretation services in support of a federal contract with the Providence VA Healthcare System. This is a 1099 independent contractor engagement โ€” practice from your own location, set your own equipment, and work independently within your scope of practice alongside (not under the supervision of) VA staff radiologists.

This is not a key personnel contract: we are filling 2.0 FTE of coverage, not naming irreplaceable individuals, so there is flexibility in how the schedule is built and staffed.

Compensation

Pay is structured across three lines of work. On-call participation is completely optional and does not affect your standing on the clinic schedule.

Line Item

Rate

Applies To

Clinic Hourly Rate

$280โ€“$320/hr

All standard remote reading hours, 7:00amโ€“8:00pm ET, Monโ€“Fri

On-Call Standby (optional)

$10โ€“$20/hr

Elective on-call week โ€” evenings, weekends, holidays (~123 hrs/wk)

Call-Back Rate (optional)

$420โ€“$480/hr

Active work only, when physically called in during an on-call period

Exact rate within each range is set based on experience, subspecialty coverage, and schedule commitment. Paid as a 1099 independent contractor โ€” no tax withholding; you are responsible for your own self-employment tax.

Schedule
  • 40 hours/week per FTE โ€” your specific hours are set by mutual agreement within the 7:00amโ€“8:00pm ET window
  • No physician is required to cover the full daily window alone โ€” staggered shifts, compressed 4x10 weeks, or a rotation you propose are all workable
  • 100% remote for all standard duty hours โ€” on-site work at the Providence facility is available at your discretion but never required
  • On-call coverage (if elected) is capped at one week per month per physician
What You'll Do
  • Interpret diagnostic imaging studies (General, MSK, Neuro at minimum) within required turnaround times: Emergent within 1 hour, ASAP within 8 hours, Routine within 48 hours
  • Coordinate as needed with VA staff radiologists, the Chief of Radiology, technologists, and clinical staff โ€” practicing independently within your own privileges
  • Participate remotely in multidisciplinary conferences and clinical consultations
  • If electing on-call: respond to technologist calls for protocol, contrast, and allergy questions; physical call-in is only needed on the rare occasion remote image transfer to the National Teleradiology Program fails
Requirements
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Diagnostic Radiology (ABR or equivalent)
  • Current, full, and unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state, territory, or D.C.
  • Current BLS certification (ACLS not required)
  • Able to complete VA credentialing and privileging prior to start โ€” the process typically runs concurrent with onboarding
  • Comfortable working independently in a remote clinical environment
Contract & Onboarding
  • Engagement term: 1-year base period with an option for up to a 6-month extension
  • VA provides remote network/EHR access (VPN) and issues a PIV card/badge regardless of remote or on-site election
  • Credentialing and privileging must be completed โ€” and approved by the COR and Chief of Radiology โ€” before you begin seeing studies
How to Apply

Send your CV (5-page limit), current BLS certification, and board certification/eligibility documentation us. We are filling a limited number of positions (2โ€“4 candidates for 2.0 FTE of coverage) โ€” early applications are strongly encouraged.
