Job Description

We are seeking a Senior IT Systems DBA to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting and maintaining database systems across multiple sites, monitoring and resolving database issues, and managing capacity planning. The candidate will document system requirements and designs, collaborate with vendors and cross-functional teams, and mentor peers.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and support moderately complex database systems across multiple sites.
  • Actively monitor databases, diagnose issues, and resolve incidents using diagnostic tools.
  • Manage and assist with database capacity planning and performance tuning.
  • Engage vendor and external support teams for escalation during outages or degraded performance.
  • Create and maintain documentation, including requirements, designs, inventories, and plans.
  • Develop proposals that present alternatives and business cases for institutional review.
  • Collaborate across departments and build consensus with stakeholders.
  • Provide consulting support, act as an information resource, and mentor colleagues.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Professional experience as an IT Systems DBA supporting enterprise database platforms.
  • Proficiency with database monitoring, diagnostics, and performance troubleshooting.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage capacity, document systems, and follow change controls.
  • Strong communication, organization, meeting facilitation, and project management skills.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and take accountability for deliverables.
