SAS Architect & System Administrator
The Opportunity:
We are seeking an experienced Senior SAS Platform Architect & Administrator with a demonstrated track record supporting Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) enterprise data and analytics environments. You will leverage your expertise with SAS platform administration, development, and analytics specific to healthcare and government data platforms. You'll apply expertise in managing and optimizing SAS environments, leveraging statistical models for healthcare, Medicare, and patient information research, and integrating SAS with open-source and cloud technologies. Your experience supporting complex and regulated environments such as the VA, with a focus on data security, compliance, and reporting standards, will be vital in this role.
How You'll Contribute:
  • Serve as the lead SAS Administrator for enterprise SAS platforms, including SAS 9.x, Grid, and Viya, within VA environments.
  • Manage platform architecture, installation, configuration, upgrades, and maintenance across desktops, servers, grids, and BI platforms.
  • Oversee all SAS security protocols, governance, and compliance according to federal regulations, ensuring the protection of Personal Health Information (PHI) and Personally Identifiable Information (PII).
  • Deploy, scale, cluster, and troubleshoot SAS environments supporting approximately 3,500 users across on-premises and remote access environments.
  • Lead healthcare-focused SAS analytics initiatives, including data engineering, statistical modeling, validation, and results interpretation.
  • Support VA initiatives such as patient information research using SAS tools, such as Lab analytics, SAS, STAT, SAS, and Viya.
  • Integrate SAS platforms with Python, R, SQL, SPSS, and Stata to support advanced analytics, reproducible research, and machine learning workflows.
  • Support interoperability between SAS and other government-compliant technologies.
  • Develop automated reporting workflows and tools to streamline VA administration and healthcare decision-making.
  • Collaborate with VA stakeholders, including IT teams, research analysts, and healthcare administrators.
  • Train VA personnel on SAS tools, methodologies, and statistical practices.

You Have:
  • 3+ years of experience in administering SAS platforms and supporting healthcare data analytics in regulated enterprise environments
  • Experience with SAS technologies, including SAS, STAT, ETS, Viya, Grid, Macro, or Enterprise Guide
  • Experience integrating with Python, R, SQL, or SPSS for healthcare-focused modeling
  • Experience with healthcare database integration, including SQL Server, Oracle, Teradata, Netezza, or DB2
  • Experience with administration across RHEL and Windows Server environments
  • Experience with federal government compliance requirements for platforms and reporting
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination based on client requirements
  • Bachelor's degree

Nice If You Have:
  • Experience with Department of Veterans Affairs systems, workflows, and reporting mandates, including patient records, data governance, and compliance

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $62,000.00 to $141,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees.
