How does a remote sports public relations professional effectively collaborate with media outlets and team members from a distance?

Remote sports public relations professionals rely heavily on digital communication tools such as email, video conferencing, and collaborative platforms to maintain strong relationships with media contacts and internal teams. They often coordinate virtual press conferences, distribute press releases, and monitor media coverage in real time. Job description

Praytell is a creative communications agency built by strategic minds and spirited hearts who believe original storytelling, unexpected ideas and an instinctive recoil from anything remotely boring can shape culture and make people... well, give a sh!t. We partner with brands to create timely, integrated and headline-worthy campaigns across social, earned, digital, experiential and emerging platforms, all rooted in smart strategy, creative excellence and a deep understanding of what's resonating right now.

We've been doing this for just over a decade and have picked up some pretty cool awards along the way, including PRWeek's Best Place to Work (8x and counting), Agency of the Year and even a few your mom might recognize - even if she doesn't fully get what you do for a living.

Our work is collaborative, fast-moving and driven by curiosity, grounded in how we show up for our clients and for one another. If you're looking to join an ambitious, deeply supportive team that's focused on doing great work with great people and doesn't take itself too seriously, we'd love to hear from you.

The Opportunity

Praytell is seeking a New York-based Account Supervisor with 4-6 years of experience, ideally within a PR agency environment, and a strong background in the sports industry. This role will support the development and execution of integrated communications programs spanning earned media, influencer and social. The Account Supervisor will play a critical role in managing day-to-day client relationships, leading key workstreams and ensuring campaigns are executed strategically and efficiently across channels. This person will also oversee project timelines, mentor junior team members and collaborate closely with cross-functional partners to deliver impactful results for clients. The ideal candidate is both strategic and hands-on, with strong client management skills, creative instincts and a deep understanding of the sports and broader consumer landscape to help shape culturally relevant campaigns that drive meaningful business outcomes.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Client Service
    • Start with 'Yes': Provide strategic recommendations grounded in optimism and actionable next steps.
    • Spidey Senses in Tune: Proactively identify and address challenges before they escalate.
    • No Ego, No B.S.: Lead with a collaborative and solutions-first mindset, avoiding unnecessary complexity or ego-driven decisions.
    • Trust & Transparency: Establish strong client relationships by maintaining open, honest communication and clear expectations.
    • Sense of Humor & Short Memory: build on previous experiences to better manage stress and maintain focus on solutions after setbacks.
    • Spirit of Partnership: Develop client relationships through thoughtful communication and understanding their goals and challenges.
  • Account & Team Management Support
    • Brand & Business Expertise: Lead the development and execution of integrated PR, influencer, and social media strategies, aligning with client objectives.
    • Time & Budget Tracking: Manage larger workstreams and overall campaign timelines and budgets, ensuring deliverables stay on track and meet quality standards.
    • Workflow Management: Manage day-to-day operations across teams, resolving challenges and ensuring alignment across PR, influencer, and social teams.
    • Staffing: Identify resource needs and flag to leadership to ensure the right team members are assigned to meet project goals.
    • Employee Development: Provide guidance and feedback to junior and mid-level staff, fostering growth and accountability.
  • Effective Communication
    • Client Communication (Emails/Status Calls): Build strong client relationships through proactive and effective communication, managing both routine updates and complex discussions.
    • Written Materials: Review and refine written materials created by junior team members to ensure accuracy, clarity, and professionalism.
    • Deck Development: Develop and deliver decks for campaign proposals and performance reports/recaps, ensuring clarity and impact.
    • Presentation Skills: Present confidently in client and internal meetings, adapting tone and messaging to suit the audience.
  • Strategic Planning
    • Channel Audits (Earned, Social, Influencer): Manage channel audits, ensuring actionable insights are clearly communicated to clients.
    • Target Audience Analysis (Earned, Social, Influencer): Conduct deep dives into audience behavior, aligning strategic recommendations with business objectives.
    • Channel Fluency & Strategies (Earned, Influencer, Social): Develop and implement multi-channel strategies, integrating earned, influencer, and social efforts seamlessly.
  • Creative Thinking
    • Newsjacking/Trend-to-Earned Ideas: Integrate cultural insights into creative proposals, leading ideation sessions for timely opportunities.
    • Earned Media: Manage the creation of unique seasonal pitches, experiential events, and mailers to support earned media objectives.
    • Influencer or Talent Partnerships: Lead brainstorming for influencer or talent collaborations that authentically align with brand and campaign goals.
    • Social Media: Craft and manage creative social media campaign strategies, ensuring alignment with audience interests and client objectives.
    • Brand Campaign Concepts: Spearhead ideation of integrated campaign concepts, ensuring creative excellence and strategic alignment.
