Job description

Business Development Manager (Basketball NAM)

Catapult is building the future of sports performance technology, with a mission to Unleash the Potential of every athlete and team on earth. We don't just work in the sporting industry; we are actively changing it.  Since 2006, our solutions have been leading the way in sports performance software, science, and data, in a world where 1% can literally mean the difference between winning and losing.

We work with over 5,000+ teams around the world, empowering coaches, managers and trainers in premier teams in the NFL, NBA, NHL, MLS, EPL, AFL, NRL, NCAA and more. We provide the information they need to optimize athletes' health, game-day readiness, and performance, as well as in-game tactics.

Catapult is a sports technology company that empowers professional teams to make data-driven decisions. We deliver health, performance, video, and AI insights from the locker room to competitive environments, ensuring every decision is an opportunity to gain an advantage, sharpen performance, and build lasting success.

WE WANT PEOPLE WHO ARE PASSIONATE ABOUT SPORTS PERFORMANCE

Due to the rapidly accelerating market demand for Catapult's cutting-edge athletic performance technology across North America, we are actively expanding our commercial team and seeking a highly motivated, results-driven Basketball Business Development Manager. This critical role centers primarily on aggressive outbound sales, identifying high-potential opportunities, and building end-to-end strategic relationships from initial contact to successful execution. Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Sales, the successful candidate will work collaboratively with key decision-makers—including head coaches, sports science directors, and performance analysts—to demonstrate how objective data can be transformed into actionable athlete insights that drive competitive advantage. This is a full-time, remote-based position requiring strategic field engagement and travel across multiple key territories within the North American market.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Maintaining a CRM database and effectively using it to manage your contacts to forecast sales opportunities.
  • Phone and email support of Catapult's elite sport clients.
  • Phone and web conferencing training of new users.
  • Responsible for growing our basketball customer base in both video and wearables and being proficient in the entire Catapult product suite.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
  • 5+ years of business-to-business sales or related experience required
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Exceptional, proven track record in similar roles, preferably in sports.
  • A self-starter able to maintain a cost-effective and time-effective travel schedule, completing expense reports and updating a CRM system daily. You'll treat your role as if the business were your own.
  • Flexible, with the ability to travel within a region of states approximately 50% of the time..
  • Able to perform quality, scientific presentations in the field of athlete performance.
  • Able to communicate with coaches by understanding the basics of targeted sports and pre-identify, through research, customer needs in advance of a presentation.
  • Able to understand the differences in performance training, strength and conditioning, tactical skill training, rehabilitation, sports media and business development of the customers.
  • Adaptable. We know our current needs, and we work at a very fast pace to achieve these. At times, we'll demand a lot, but you'll be rewarded well in return. We understand life balance and respect it.
WHAT YOUR SUCCESS WILL LOOK LIKE

In 6 months time.

  • Established strong relationships with key customers and industry stakeholders.
  • Built a robust qualified sales pipeline.
  • Developed and executed a strategic market growth plan.
  • Secured early commercial wins and identified long-term opportunities.

In 12 months time..

  • Achieved or exceeded annual sales growth targets.
  • Expanded the company's presence across the Basketball industry.

So if you have what it takes, but don't meet every single point in our job ad, please still get in touch! We would love to have a chat and see if you could be a great addition to our team. We are building the future of sports performance. Our priority is to find the brightest talent who can add to our team culture, actively contribute, and be excited about what they do.
