This hands-on role focuses on maintaining motor test field equipment, planning and coordinating complex system tests, and troubleshooting technical issues with drives, motors, and control systems. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise in industrial electrical systems, variable speed drives, and motor testing within a heavy industrial environment.

This role offers the opportunity to work with some of the largest customer-engineered electric motors and MVD systems in the industry. The successful candidate will play a key role in validating equipment that power critical infrastructure and industrial operations globally

Key Responsibilities

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in industrial electrical systems, motor testing, variable-speed drive systems, or related heavy industrial fields
  • Strong technical knowledge of AC motors and generators (medium voltage preferred)
  • Experience commissioning, configuring, troubleshooting, and supporting AC and/or DC variable speed drive systems.
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting and modifying PLC- and HMI-based industrial control systems.
  • Ability to read and modify CAD drawings
  • Strong safety mindset and commitment to electrical safety culture

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a motor or variable speed drive test laboratory or heavy industrial environment
  • Experience with Perfect Harmony AC and/or DC variable speed drives
  • Experience supporting complex system-level testing and data acquisition
  • Experience with Step-7, TIA Portal, WinCC, or equivalent HMI/PLC software
  • Background with DC drives and exciter systems
  • Familiarity with industrial networks (PROFIBUS, PROFINET, Ethernet/IP)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and data acquisition systems
  • Knowledge of MV/LV substation equipment
  • SAP knowledge

Additional Details: Reports to the Production Manager. Works collaboratively with a team of test technicians, R&D engineers and often directly with customer. Primarily on-site at our Norwood, Ohio facility, with occasional flexibility for remote work based on testing schedules and business needs. Minimal travel required.

The pay range for this position is $81,680 - $210,000. The actual wage offered may be higher or lower depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.

What's IN it for you (Our Benefits)
