Remote Solar Finance information

What is remote solar finance?

Remote solar finance refers to the process of managing, funding, and investing in solar energy projects from a remote location, often using digital tools and platforms. Professionals in this field may work for solar companies, banks, or financial institutions, evaluating project feasibility, securing funding, and overseeing financial operations without being physically present at project sites. This approach allows for broader access to projects worldwide, efficient collaboration, and the use of technology to streamline financial assessments and transactions.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a remote solar finance professional?

To thrive as a Remote Solar Finance professional, you need a strong understanding of financial modeling, renewable energy markets, and project finance principles, often supported by a degree in finance, accounting, or a related field. Familiarity with financial analysis software like Excel, Power BI, and industry-specific tools such as Helioscope or PVsyst, as well as relevant certifications (e.g., CFA or CPA), is highly valued. Excellent communication, analytical thinking, and self-motivation are crucial soft skills for effectively collaborating across remote teams and presenting financial insights. These skills and qualifications are essential to accurately assess project viability, secure funding, and drive the success of solar energy initiatives in a remote work environment.

How does a remote solar finance professional typically collaborate with project developers and stakeholders?

As a Remote Solar Finance professional, you will regularly coordinate with project developers, engineers, and legal teams to evaluate project viability, structure financial models, and secure funding. Communication often occurs through virtual meetings, shared platforms, and cloud-based tools to review documents and align on project milestones. Building strong relationships and maintaining clear, proactive communication is key to overcoming challenges like time zone differences and ensuring projects stay on track. This collaborative approach helps streamline approvals, identify potential risks early, and optimize financing strategies for solar developments.

Job description

Description

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

We are looking for a Strategic Partner Product Specialist to join our EnFin Offering Development Team to build and elevate the strategic relationships between our solar financing platform and the hardware OEM ecosystem, including governance of our Approved Vendor List (AVL). This is a forward-thinking, investor-grade partnership function that sits at the intersection of clean energy finance, hardware quality, and operational intelligence. The ideal candidate connects granular vendor details – warranty terms, degradation curves, bankability ratings – to the macro picture of portfolio risk, investor confidence, and energy transition scale. You will build the analytical and relationship infrastructure that enables our capital to flow to the highest-quality most durable solar hardware in the market.

This position will be based in San Francisco, CA with in-office schedule set at the direct manager’s discretion in accordance with company policy. Remote work may be considered for exceptional cases.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Own end-to-end relationships with hardware OEM partners (modules, inverters, racking, batteries) across the full partnership lifecycle from onboarding to ongoing governance.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact and strategic liaison, ensuring vendors understand our investment standards, portfolio expectations, and growth roadmap.
  • Lead and facilitate Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs)—structuring agendas, preparing data packages, presenting performance insights, and capturing vendor commitments and action items.
  • Proactively identify partnership opportunities that align vendor capabilities with investor appetite and project pipeline growth.
  • Build and maintain dashboards that give internal stakeholders a real-time view of vendor performance relative to AVL standards and portfolio exposure.
  • Establish escalation protocols and remediation plans for vendors trending below threshold, including structured improvement plans and AVL probation criteria.
  • Evaluate prospective and existing OEM vendors for long-term viability across financial, technical, and market dimensions: assess balance sheet strength, manufacturing capacity, geographic concentration risk, supply chain resilience, and warranty reserve adequacy.
  • Maintain a competitive intelligence view of the OEM landscape—tracking M&A activity, capacity expansions, new entrants, and macro supply dynamics.
  • Act as the internal subject matter expert on hardware OEMs—answering questions from Underwriting, Legal, Investor Relations, and Project Development with accurate, timely information.
  • Partner with Legal and other cross-functional teams on vendor contract structures (including API contracts), warranty enforcement mechanisms, and AVL governance policy.
  • Identify, prioritize, design and iterate on workflows where AI agents can augment vendor management—including document review, KPI monitoring, QBR preparation, and due diligence research.
  • Establish governance standards for AI-assisted outputs in vendor management, ensuring accuracy of thresholds and human review protocols.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, sustainability, or related field with a minimum of 5+ years of professional work experience including at least 3+ years of relevant experience in investment analysis, partnership management, operations, or project management.
  • Familiarity with data analysis, reporting, and performance tracking concepts.
  • Clear, professional, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience creating and delivering presentations, including public speaking and sharing insights with internal or external audiences.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Travel may be required up to 10%, depending on business needs.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Project Management Certifications, including CAPM, etc.
  • Hands-on experience designing or deploying AI-assisted workflows.
  • Financial industry experience, particularly with structured finance, tax equity, or project finance in renewable energy contexts.
  • Solar Industry experience (Renewable).
