Job description

About the Position
As a mid-level Renewable Development Engineer in the Renewable Development group, you will be the primary liaison for development, bid support, and/or preliminary (0%-30%) PV, BESS and Wind design. Design work between internal Operations and Sales stakeholders, and external stakeholders (e.g., Clients). The Renewable Development Engineer works collaboratively with these Stakeholders to perform preliminary PV electrical and PV civil design.
This opportunity is available to both local / in-office (Lakewood, CO) and full-time remote candidates.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Designs PV, BESS and Wind projects in all areas of the US.
  • Passionate about learning multi disciplines and multi technologies.
  • Acts as a liaison between the solar design team and relevant internal and external stakeholders
  • Delivers preliminary PV, BESS and/or Wind design (0-30%). Project level of detail is greatly dependent on contracted scope. Design can include partial or all of the following:
    • Meet the technical requirements outlined by the client and/or Owner
    • Creation of constraint file to determine initial project feasibility
    • Solar, PV, or Wind layout creation
    • Preliminary level cable and DC design
    • Preliminary level Civil grading and drainage
    • Provide high-level Bill of Materials for civil infrastructure, electrical material, and foundation quantities
    • Must be able to self-schedule preliminary design activities to meet deadlines set by external stakeholders
    • Various EE Studies (Load flow, ampacity, losses and/or short circuit)
    • Production estimates (Pvsyst)

  • Works with Proposal team and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to establish proposal pricing
  • Provides engineering & technical support to the other members of the Business Development & Project Services Team
  • Develops and maintain outstanding company-client relationships
  • Maintains high ethical and professional standards
  • Develops equipment vendor relationships
  • Attends conferences, training workshops, seminars, regular undergraduate, and graduate classes as appropriate for advancement and as required to maintain quality of work
  • Attends safety training and adhere to all safety rules and guidelines
  • Works well is self-motivated environment and driven for continual improvement.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Must Have[JS2]
  • Education: Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or Civil Engineering from an accredited institution, electric power option preferred
  • Experience: 2 - 6 years of relevant engineering or field experience
  • Licensure: FE, PE is a plus, but not required
  • Experience with energy modeling using PVsyst
  • Experience with AutoCAD and preferred PVCase
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, Project
  • Basic understanding electrical and civil engineering with specific emphasis on PV solar
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with customers and internal personnel; exercises strong intrapersonal skills.
  • Must be self-motivated, well-organized, and a skilled decision maker that is comfortable in a fast-paced design environment
  • Possesses excellent problem-solving skills
  • Commercial understanding of the engineering or construction industries
  • Possesses effective written and oral communications skills
  • Good interpersonal and people skills
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
