Location: Omaha, NE - Hybrid or United States - Remote
We're always looking for great software engineers who want to shape the future of construction technology!
This posting is part of our ongoing effort to build a pipeline of talented professionals for current or future opportunities. While hiring needs may not be immediate, we welcome your application. We review applications on an ongoing basis and will reach out if your experience aligns with a future opening.
The job:
As a Senior Software Engineer at Buildertrend, you'll help shape the future of construction technology - building tools that empower professionals to work smarter, move faster, and deliver with confidence. You're not here to just execute tickets; you're here to make an impact. Your technical expertise will not only shape our products but also play a crucial role in delivering solutions that make a lasting impact on how construction teams work and succeed
What you will do:
  • Turn customer needs into thoughtful technical solutions and drive them through design, development, and delivery.
  • Write clean, maintainable code while maintaining high standards for performance and reliability.
  • Lead code reviews and mentor engineers, helping strengthen engineering practices across the team.
  • Identify and advocate for improvements that make the platform stronger over time.
  • Communicate technical concepts clearly to engineers, product partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Use cutting-edge AI tools to accelerate problem solving and improve engineering efficiency.
  • Contribute to planning, retrospectives, and other agile practices that support consistent delivery.

Who you are and what you need:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering or related field, or equivalent experience required.
  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering required.
  • Prior experience at a B2B SaaS company is highly preferred.
  • Experience in React and C#/.NET is required.
  • Experience using AI powered tools to develop great software
  • Experience with modern software development methodologies (Agile, Scrum, etc.).
  • Solid understanding of software design patterns and best practices.
  • Experience mentoring, guiding, and elevating junior engineers and other team members.
  • Take ownership of problems from discovery to delivery, removing blockers and driving solutions to completion.
  • Build with the customer in mind, prioritizing solutions that solve real problems and deliver reliable outcomes.
  • Contribute to a strong engineering environment by sharing knowledge, supporting teammates, and helping raise technical standards.

We are giving you:
  • Exceptional health packages, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, plus life insurance and short- and long-term disability benefits
  • A 401(k) plan with Buildertrend matching contributions to help you plan for the future
  • Generous paid time off, 11 paid holidays, plus personal days to make sure you have time to recharge
  • Parental leave and paid sabbaticals to support you during life's big moments
  • Volunteer time off - because giving back matters
  • Wellness program and onsite fitness center to keep you feeling your best
  • Opportunities for hybrid or remote work to give you the flexibility you need
  • Technology reimbursement to help cover costs for the tech you need to do your job from home
  • Free daily lunches when you're at our HQ office, plus monthly events to connect with your team
