Job description

Most of the food on a grocery shelf spent part of its life in a cold chain, and Lineage runs the largest one in the world. Getting food from a farm or a plant to a store without ever breaking temperature is a genuinely hard problem, and we solve it thousands of times a day.
We build the software that makes it happen. Connect is Lineage's own Warehouse Management System, the system of record for warehouse inventory, orders, and customers. This position is to join the Connect engineering team that builds the integration with LinOS, our platform for automating and improving warehouse operations end to end with data science algorithms.
This is software with a physical consequence. Get a release right and a facility moves more product with fewer mistakes; get it wrong and trucks wait at the dock. Your work lands in a real building, on real pallets. LinOS is replacing manual processes that have gone unchanged for decades.

Whatyou'lldo

  • Design and build backend services and APIs for Connect, working across the LinOS integration boundary

  • Take architectural direction from the Tech Lead and turn it into maintainable, well-tested, well-instrumented code

  • Serve as the subject matter expert on assigned initiatives - own the technical understanding of the problem, not just the tickets

  • Raise the engineering bar on the team: meaningful code review, unit test coverage, useful logging, and finding ways to improve code quality

  • Mentor mid-level and newer engineers on the project; make the people around you better

  • Participate in L3 production support for the systems your team owns

  • Use AI coding assistants effectively and hold the output to the same standard as hand-written code

Required qualifications

  • 10+ yearsof professional software development experience

  • Strong object-oriented development background

  • Deep experience in at least one ofJavaScript/TypeScript, Java, or C#

  • Strong SQL- able to read, write, and reason about performance in a large relational schema

  • Demonstrated experience withdistributed systems- services that integrate across boundaries, with the failure modes that come with them

  • StrongAPI designskills

  • Excellent problem-solving skills; able to diagnose an unfamiliar production issue and drive it to root cause

  • Strong communicationand teamwork; able to explaina technical decisionto engineers, product partners, and non-technical stakeholders

  • Effective, disciplined use ofAI development tools, including managing the context you give them and critically reviewing what they produce

Preferred qualifications

  • Node.js / TypeScript (NestJS) and React or React Native

  • Microsoft SQL Server, including stored procedures and query tuning

  • Warehouse management, supply chain, manufacturing, or other industrial/operational software

  • Observability tooling (Datadog or equivalent) and containerized deployment (Docker)

  • Experience mentoring engineers or acting as a technical lead on an initiative
