As a member of the Platform Team, the Senior Software Engineer focuses on large-scale platform efforts and plays a critical role in shaping our technical architecture. In this role, you work across team boundaries to solve complex dependencies, establish consistent patterns, and build the shared foundations that other engineers rely on every day. By building shared libraries, optimizing cloud infrastructure, and prioritizing modern, sustainable patterns over legacy architecture, you enable engineers across Stukent to move faster and more reliably.

Location: While this role is open to remote candidates in states where we operate, preference will be given to applicants based in Utah, Idaho, Kentucky, and Texas. All candidates must reside in our operating states to be considered.

Typical Job Duties

  • Deliver end-to-end features and platform capabilities by translating requirements into functional, high-quality code.
  • Design and implement  solutions for complex, cross-domain challenges, ensuring seamless and reliable system integration..
  • Multiply engineering impact by developing shared libraries, frameworks, and internal tools used across teams.
  • Drive  long-term technical health by identifying and prioritizing the retirement of legacy architecture in favor of modern, sustainable patterns.
  • Establish engineering standards by creating documentation and architectural blueprints that guide development. .
  • Promote continuous improvement by introducing modern methodologies and industry best practices that keep the organization at the forefront of technology.
  • Provision and optimize cloud infrastructure for cost-efficiency and performance.
  • Build and maintain infrastructure-as-code modules that enable teams to provision their own resources while adhering to organizational guardrails.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional software development experience with a proven track record of cross-team technical leadership.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js
  • Proficiency in React web application frameworks
  • Proficiency in writing comprehensive unit and integration tests to maintain high code coverage
  • Hands-on experience with GraphQL
  • Hands-on experience provisioning and optimizing cloud infrastructure via infrastructure-as-code, such as Terraform or CloudFormation
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor junior staff and lead technical discussions that result in high-quality architectural outcomes.
  • Proven expertise in building and optimizing high-performance CI/CD pipelines as code across multiple teams using tools like GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or GitLab to increase organizational delivery velocity.
  • Exceptional ability to navigate high-ambiguity technical challenges and provide clear, actionable solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with C# is preferred
  • Experience in EdTech industry is preferred
  • Cloud Certification(s) in Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services is preferred
  • Experience developing ADA compliant user experiences is preferred
