Job description

Genesis Exhibits, a world-class trade show exhibit design & manufacturing group with an extraordinary 38-year history, is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Project Estimator to join our team. This role is ideal for a trade show professional who understands how creative booth concepts translate into accurate, buildable, and profitable projects.


The Project Estimator will develop project estimates for custom and modular trade show booths, rentals, graphics, fabrication, labor, freight, and related services while working closely with design, sales, project management, production, and finance.


This is a full-time position open to qualified remote applicants as well as candidates interested in working at our High Point, North Carolina headquarters.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


Estimating & Cost Development

  • Review booth designs, renderings, plans, specifications, and project requirements to determine complete scope.
  • Prepare detailed estimates for fabrication, modular systems, rental components, graphics, flooring, lighting, audiovisual, freight, installation and dismantle labor, and related services.
  • Calculate material quantities, production labor, purchased components, subcontracted services, and other project costs.
  • Identify scope gaps, assumptions, exclusions, and potential cost risks before estimates are finalized.
  • Recommend value-engineering options when needed to help align design concepts with client budgets.


Technical & Project Collaboration

  • Evaluate designs for constructability, material usage, production efficiency, installation requirements, and overall feasibility.
  • Collaborate with design, sales, project management, finance, and production teams throughout the estimating process.
  • Provide timely pricing feedback as designs and project scopes evolve.
  • Clearly communicate key cost drivers, assumptions, risks, and opportunities for savings.


Vendor & Cost Management

  • Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor pricing as required.
  • Maintain awareness of changing material, labor, freight, rental, and service costs.
  • Compare completed-project actual costs to original estimates and help improve future estimating accuracy via established Job Costing SOPs.
  • Support the development and maintenance of estimating standards, historical cost data, and pricing resources.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of estimating, project management, production, detailing, or related experience within the trade show exhibit industry strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of custom and modular trade show booth construction, fabrication methods, graphics, rental components, and show-site requirements.
  • Ability to interpret renderings, floor plans, elevations, construction drawings, specifications, and bills of materials.
  • Working knowledge of material and labor takeoffs, production hours, freight, installation and dismantle, and outsourced services.
  • Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with estimating, project management, ERP, or related business software.
  • Familiarity with QuickBooks, Salesforce, CAD drawings and design documentation is highly desirable.
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple estimates and changing priorities.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively across multiple departments.
