What Is the Job of Remote Software Developers?

Remote software developers design and create computer software programs and systems for their employer or client. Unlike in-house software developers, remote software developers work from home or another location outside of the office. As a remote software developer, you discuss the kind of program you need to create, making sure to clarify with your department or with your client what they need in their application. You may develop an entirely new program or improve an existing one. Remote developers are responsible for a program’s overall framework, and they design precise workflow charts that explain to programmers what code is needed for different aspects of the program. Remote software developers also design tests and protocols for the QA department to follow when they are testing the application.

Job Description

Designing a better world is more than a career, it's a calling! Come work with a team of professionals dedicated to design excellence at Coffman Engineers' Anchorage office.

Landscape Architect/Planner/Site Designer: Do you have a minimum of 3 years of working experience with landscape and site design projects? Do you have project management skills for coordinating with multi-disciplinary design teams? Do you have a desire to integrate indigenous culture into the built environment? Do you want to work in Alaska? If so, we want to talk to you!

The ideal candidate for this position is an early to mid - career landscape architecture professional, who demonstrates strong initiative, and thrives in a collaborative environment.  In this role, the successful candidate will spearhead all aspects of design, and guide projects from initial concept development through to project closeout. This requires generating precise, production-ready two-dimensional and three-dimensional technical drawings and documentation using industry-standard CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit, and SolidWorks).

Additionally, the position involves managing project milestones and deliverables, ensuring that all work is completed on time, within scope, and within budget. Effective coordination with cross-functional teams and external consultants is essential to ensure that design specifications and quality standards are consistently met. This role requires some previous experience in architectural or engineering firms, the ability to independently manage multiple project deliverables with strong prioritization and time management, and exceptional communication skills for effective collaboration. A proactive approach to continuous improvement and problem-solving is also essential.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Landscape Architecture.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience with landscape and site design projects.
  • Innovative thinker and thought leader.
  • Experienced project manager who can lead a client through the design process by interfacing with the client and leading the A/E design team, and contractor from the onset of a project through construction.
  • Ability to maintain design integrity as a project moves from concept design through construction documentation.
  • Ability to produce and guide the creative thought process for master planning, park design, site design and planting plan solutions.
  • Ability to communicate design intent by hand sketching early in the process and quickly converting sketches into a digital format (i.e. Photoshop/AutoCAD) to professionally convey the design intent.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Revit and the Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Proficiency with producing construction documents for planting plans, playgrounds, court yards, building entry plazas, and drainage features.
  • Familiarity with northern building design and construction in remote Alaska, preferred.
  • Experience or ambition to work on commercial, military, and park projects, preferred.
