Job description

Senior Product Manager - Digital Health & Fitness Platform
Location: Remote
Type: Full-time
Start: Summer 2026
Eligibility: U.S. person required. Must be able to obtain the clearance level required by the contract.
About the Role
We are building a next-generation health and fitness member portal serving tens of thousands of users across a large, distributed organization. The platform delivers a full member experience: account management, health risk assessment, exercise logging and prescription, fitness assessment, virtual training with an integrated video library, and wearable device integration. It runs in a government cloud environment (AWS GovCloud) under an active Authorization to Operate, which means product leadership here balances consumer-grade product thinking with the discipline of federal compliance.
We are hiring the single product owner of this platform - its experience design, its technical roadmap, and its ongoing authorization integrity. You will lead a distributed engineering team, manage platform and cloud vendor relationships, and partner with our CISO on security authorization. This is a real ownership role, and you will be expected to run it with autonomy.
What You Will Own
Product vision and roadmap
  • Own the end-to-end product roadmap for the member portal, balancing member experience against platform stability and authorization boundaries.
  • Define and prioritize features across the core areas: account management, health risk assessment, exercise logging and prescription, fitness assessment, virtual training and video delivery, and wearable integration.
  • Translate organizational and program requirements into release plans sequenced against engagement, adoption, and health-outcome goals.
  • Engage engineering in real technical discussion to validate implementation correctness and build quality.
Member experience and feature development
  • Drive the design and delivery of a consumer-grade member experience inside a government-compliant environment, held to a mobile-first quality bar.
  • Own the wearable integration roadmap: device partnerships, health data standards (HL7, FHIR, Apple Health, Google Fit), and data-accuracy requirements.
  • Define and evolve the virtual training and video product: content delivery architecture, trainer workflows, and member-facing UX.
  • Establish product metrics and feedback loops that improve engagement, adherence, and health outcomes.

Platform operations and delivery
  • Own day-to-day platform operations: availability against SLA, release management, and incident response.
  • Manage the accredited-platform engagement (e.g., a Game Warden-class PaaS) and the AWS GovCloud vendor relationship.
  • Enforce the access boundary between distributed development and privileged production operations - only authorized U.S. persons touch production.
Security and authorization
  • Support the CISO and ISSM in obtaining and maintaining the system's ATO; contribute to continuous monitoring (ISCM), eMASS package upkeep, POA&M management, and audit readiness.
  • Keep development practices aligned with FedRAMP and applicable DoD impact-level requirements so the system stays authorizable as it evolves.
  • Embed HIPAA compliance in feature development, data handling, and third-party integrations across the portal.
Team and vendor leadership
  • Lead a distributed engineering team and onshore operations contractors: set priorities, review deliverables, and hold delivery to schedule.
  • Manage subcontractors and platform and cloud vendors; own the technical relationship and the quality of what they deliver.
Customer and stakeholder interface
  • Serve as the primary product and technical point of contact to the government program office: provide status, manage expectations, and meet response-time and accountability commitments.
  • Represent the member's perspective in every stakeholder conversation; compliance requirements should not erode the user experience without a deliberate, documented tradeoff.

Required Qualifications
  • Five or more years of product management with a track record of shipping consumer-facing digital products, ideally in health, fitness, wellness, or an adjacent domain.
  • Deep familiarity with health and fitness product verticals: member engagement and retention,

exercise-science workflows, health data (wearables, biometrics, assessments), and digital coaching or training.
  • Experience delivering mobile-first consumer experiences (iOS/Android and responsive web).
  • Working understanding of health data standards for wearable and third-party integrations (HL7, FHIR, Apple Health, Google Fit).
  • HIPAA compliance experience in a software product context.
  • Familiarity with FedRAMP and/or federal ATO environments, and the ability to operate within an authorized system without eroding its compliance posture.
  • Working familiarity with the federal compliance landscape - FedRAMP, NIST 800-53, continuous monitoring, and ATO maintenance - enough to partner effectively with a CISO.
  • Comfort working in a government or regulated cloud environment (AWS GovCloud, or an accredited platform such as Game Warden or Platform One), or the ability to ramp quickly.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead distributed or offshore engineering teams and manage vendors and subcontractors.
  • Strong technical literacy across cloud architecture (AWS GovCloud or Azure GCC High), CI/CD, and DevSecOps - able to direct and evaluate engineers without being one.
  • U.S. person status (required for privileged access to the government cloud environment) and ability to obtain the clearance level required by the contract.
  • A track record of operating independently and owning outcomes with minimal oversight.

Preferred
  • Background in fitness technology, digital health platforms, or health club management software.
  • Experience building or managing video delivery products, virtual coaching platforms, or exercise-prescription tools.
  • Familiarity with wearable ecosystems (Garmin, Apple Watch, Whoop, Fitbit) and their developer APIs.
  • Prior ISSO or ISSM experience.
  • Background from a DoD software factory (Platform One, Kessel Run, Space CAMP) or a defense-tech delivery firm.
  • Hands-on experience taking a system through a federal ATO (FedRAMP, or DoD IL4/IL5), with working knowledge of eMASS and continuous monitoring (ISCM).
  • Experience running a mixed onshore/offshore delivery model under federal compliance constraints.
  • Agile delivery experience (Jira, Azure DevOps, or equivalent).
