Remote Signal Processing information

What is remote signal processing?

Remote signal processing involves analyzing and interpreting signals, such as audio, video, or sensor data, from a distance using digital tools and algorithms. Professionals in this field work remotely to develop and implement software solutions that process various types of signals for applications like telecommunications, medical imaging, and radar systems. This job typically requires expertise in signal processing theory, programming, and sometimes machine learning, all of which can be done from a remote location using specialized software and collaborative tools.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote signal processing engineer?

To thrive as a Remote Signal Processing Engineer, you need a strong background in electrical engineering, mathematics, and digital signal processing (DSP), usually backed by a relevant degree. Familiarity with software tools such as MATLAB, Python, and DSP libraries, as well as knowledge of remote communication protocols, is typically required. Excellent problem-solving abilities, independent work ethic, and effective remote communication skills help set top performers apart. These skills ensure accurate data analysis, efficient collaboration, and the successful development and deployment of signal processing solutions in distributed work environments.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals working in remote signal processing roles, and how can they be addressed?

One common challenge in remote signal processing roles is ensuring reliable data transmission and synchronization when working with distributed or cloud-based systems. Professionals often need to address latency, bandwidth limitations, and data integrity issues, especially when collaborating with geographically dispersed teams. Effective communication, robust data validation protocols, and leveraging version control tools can help mitigate these challenges. Additionally, staying updated with the latest remote collaboration technologies and workflow management tools can streamline project progress and enhance team productivity.

Job description

Standard Job Description The Silicon Solutions team of Lockheed Martin Space is building the best SOC team in the world and are seeking a highly talented and strategically-thinking leader who has a passion for technology, project management and people. As a Signal Processing Engineer, you will: Design, develop, and verifycomplex DSP blocks (mixers, re-samplers, channelizers, DUC/DDC, etc.) on embedded processors, ASICs, FPGAs, and Versal/Polarfire SOCs. Serve as the technical authority for signal processing architecture, ensuring each block meets performance, power, and latency targets while satisfying overall system requirements

Influence project planning, schedule, cost, and quality through technical risk assessment and mitigation. Act as the primary technical liaison for multiple programs, translating high level mission needs into concrete signal processing implementations. The information below reflects the standard job description for this position: Researches, designs, develops and verifies signal and image collection systems, and defines and develops processing and dissemination computer algorithms.

Develops requirements analysis, sub-system architectures, and integrates new signal and image processing technology systems. Designs, develops and analyzes systems and algorithms for the extraction of information from signal and image sensors. Technologies applied include: remote sensing; detection and estimation theories; morphological processing; speech processing; neural networks; electromagnetic and acoustic effects on signals; and implementation of signal processing with advanced computer architectures.

Basic Qualifications B.S. (or higher) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience. Proven experience designing, debugging, and verifying digital signal processing algorithms

Demonstrated success leading DSP focused projects or technical initiatives. Desired Skills DSP Algorithm Implementation Experience implementing mixers, resamplers, channelizers, digital upconverters (DUC), and digital downconverters (DDC) in ASIC, FPGA, or SOC/Versal/Polarfire devices. Software Defined Radio (SDR) waveform and protocols Ability to map algorithms to programmable logic, hard macros, or optimized software kernels.

Modeling & Simulation Proficiency with MATLAB and/or C/C++ for signal chain modeling (filter design, FFT/IFFT, ADC/DAC, etc.). Skilled at translating models into production ready, real-time code. System Level Understanding Knowledge of space system architectures, CONOPs, and requirements flow down

Ability to evaluate how DSP blocks impact overall system latency, throughput, and power budgets. Proficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice. Pay Information Full-Time Salary Range: $110300.00 - $204900.00 At Lockheed Martin, we know mission success starts with taking care of our people
