Remote Sign Estimator information

What is a remote sign estimator?

Remote Sign Estimators are professionals who assess the cost and materials required to produce and install signage for businesses, usually working from a remote location. They analyze project specifications, review blueprints or client requests, and provide detailed estimates for signage projects. Their work helps clients understand the scope and cost of sign projects before production begins. Remote Sign Estimators may also coordinate with sales teams, designers, and manufacturers to ensure accurate and competitive pricing.

What is the difference between Remote Sign Estimator vs Remote Sign Installer?

AspectRemote Sign EstimatorRemote Sign Installer
CredentialsEstimating certifications, industry knowledgeInstallation certifications, safety training
Work EnvironmentOffice-based, remote or on-site for consultationsRemote or on-site for installation
Industry UsagePre-sales, project planning, cost estimationPhysical installation, site work
Common Search/ComparisonEstimating, design, project planningInstallation, setup, on-site work

The main difference between a Remote Sign Estimator and a Remote Sign Installer lies in their roles. The estimator focuses on calculating costs, preparing quotes, and planning projects remotely, often working from an office. The installer, on the other hand, handles the physical installation of signs, which may be remote or on-site. Both roles require industry-specific certifications, but their work environments and responsibilities differ significantly.

What are the most common challenges faced by remote sign estimators when collaborating with design and sales teams?

Remote Sign Estimators often face challenges in ensuring accurate communication and alignment between design intentions, client needs, and project costs. Since much of the collaboration happens virtually, it’s crucial to proactively clarify specifications, ask detailed questions, and use visual aids or digital tools to prevent misunderstandings. Maintaining organized documentation and regular check-ins with design and sales teams helps streamline the estimation process, reduce errors, and foster productive teamwork, even when working from different locations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote sign estimator?

To thrive as a Remote Sign Estimator, you need strong mathematical skills, attention to detail, and experience in construction or sign industry estimating, often supported by a relevant degree or vocational training. Familiarity with estimation software such as Bluebeam, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Excel is typically required, along with understanding of project management systems. Exceptional communication, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently make candidates stand out in this remote role. These competencies ensure accurate cost estimates, effective client interactions, and efficient project execution from a distance.

Who this is for

Thisrole is for the phone sales pro who already knows they can sell, who's tired of dialing through 200 cold calls a day to maybe close one, and who wants to spend their time on real opportunities with real customers who already need help.

You'll be the trusted backup our field sales pros call when a deal is on the edge. You'll handle the conversations that need a calm, confident voice from someone outside the home. You'll help homeowners understand options, work through concerns, and feel good about the decision they're making. And when our field team isn't on the phone with you, you'll be working unsold estimates and signing up new members.

This is not a call-center role. It's not a turn-and-burn dialer job. It's a real, senior phone sales position where the way you treat people matters as much as the deals you close.

If you're patient, thoughtful, and great with people on the phone, you'll thrive here. If you want to grind through hundreds of cold calls and hit a quota at any cost, this isn't the right fit.

About us

We're a residential plumbing company based in Orange County, California. We've built a strong brand serving homeowners across Southern California by treating customers the way we'd want our own family treated. Patient. Thorough. Honest. This role helps us bring that same standard to every conversation our customers have over the phone.

What you'll do

  • Be the trusted closer for our field sales team. When one of our Sales Pros is in a customer's home and needs a hand (working through pricing concerns, walking the customer through a bigger-picture solution, helping them feel confident in their decision), you're the voice on the other end of the line. You'll be the calm, experienced perspective that helps both the tech and the customer get to the right outcome.
  • Close unsold estimates. Customers who got a quote but didn't move forward. You'll reach out, listen to what's holding them back, and help them get the work done if it makes sense for them.
  • Sell Do It Right Memberships. Our membership program protects homeowners and builds lifelong relationships. You'll be a key part of growing it.
  • Light inbound support. A small portion of the role involves helping customers who call in. Most of your time is on the work above.
  • Hit real numbers. Minimum $50K per month in sold jobs, with $100K being our target for top performers. Real numbers, real commission, real upside.

What makes this different

  • Real conversations, not cold-call grinding. You'll make 100+ outbound calls a day, but they're warm. Customers who already requested service, got an estimate, or talked to one of our techs. You're not interrupting strangers. You're following up with people who already raised their hand.
  • Sales coach support. Our team has access to ongoing coaching to keep sharpening the craft. You'll be part of that.
  • A founder who's actually engaged. Direct line, no buried management chain.
  • A real product to sell. Customers actually need what we offer. We don't push junk. That makes the job easier and the work feel good at the end of the day.

Who we're looking for

The right person treats customers like family. They listen first, build trust, and earn the sale by helping the customer make the right decision for themselves. Specifically:

  • 3+ years of B2C phone sales experience. Home services experience is a major plus. Solar, HVAC, roofing, pest, windows, similar industries all count.
  • Comfortable with real volume.
  • Proven closing track record. You've personally hit real numbers and you can walk us through how.
  • Native or near-native English fluency with clear, confident pronunciation. American homeowners need to understand and trust you on the first call.
  • A patient, customer-first approach. Not a turn-and-burn closer. We're looking for the kind of pro who slows down, builds rapport, and earns the deal the right way.
  • Comfort with technology. CRM, video calls, modern phone systems, paperless workflow.
  • Coachable and humble. Our top performers got there by being open to feedback. If you already know everything, this isn't your shop.
  • Available Tuesday through Saturday, 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM Pacific Time. From wherever you're based. We're not interested in candidates who plan to flip their schedule for this role.
  • Reliable internet, a quiet workspace, and the ability to be on camera for team meetings.

Where you can be based

We're hiring globally with these constraints:

  • Pacific Time Zone work hours required
  • Open to Latin America, Jamaica, and the Philippines
  • Not currently considering Europe or India

A note on how we work

This is a 100% remote role. We don't use monitoring software and we don't micromanage. We trust our team to do excellent work and communicate proactively. That trust runs both ways. Show up, take ownership, operate with high integrity.

This role is full-time. Not a side gig. Your full attention during business hours is part of what we're paying for.

Hours and compensation

  • Full-time, 100% remote
  • Tuesday through Saturday, 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM Pacific Time
  • $1,500 USD per month base salary
  • 1% commission on all sold jobs (no cap)
  • Volume bonuses for $100K+ months
  • Additional incentives for membership sales
  • Independent contractor through our global payroll partner
