This position is entirely remote, utilizing modern telehealth technologies to connect with clients. Working hours will typically be from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, allowing flexibility for both counselors and clients. Our telehealth facility ensures that you can deliver excellent care from the comfort of your own home while eliminating geographical barriers for clients in need of mental health support.

• Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments for elderly clients, identifying their specific psychological needs and concerns.
• Provide one-on-one and group counseling sessions to address issues such as grief, depression, anxiety, and adjustment challenges associated with aging.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to develop and implement individualized care plans that prioritize client-centered outcomes.
• Educate families and caregivers about effective strategies to support the emotional and mental health of seniors.
• Facilitate grief counseling sessions for residents and their families as they navigate end-of-life issues, ensuring a compassionate approach to this sensitive aspect of care.
• Develop and implement cognitive stimulation and mental health programs to enhance cognitive functioning and social engagement among elderly clients.

Your primary focus will be on elderly patients who face various mental health challenges, compounded by the effects of aging. This includes individuals dealing with profound loss, anxiety about health-related changes, and the psychological effects of isolation. Your role is pivotal in not only addressing their mental health needs but also in enhancing their overall well-being through targeted interventions.

• A Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from an accredited institution.
• A valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) credential to practice in New York.
• At least 4 years of recent experience in geriatric mental health counseling or related fields.
• A solid understanding of therapeutic techniques and evidence-based interventions suitable for addressing age-related mental health issues.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills necessary for effective interaction with clients and healthcare teams.
• Empathy and a strong sense of cultural competency to support clients from diverse backgrounds.

• Prior experience in a telehealth setting is desirable, emphasizing effective remote counseling practices.
• Specialized training in grief counseling or cognitive behavioral therapy tailored for older adults.
• Experience working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams in geriatric care.
