Overview
The Shipping and Receiving Clerk I is responsible for performing all clerical and administrative functions related to outbound shipments and inbound product receipt. This role ensures accurate documentation, timely processing, and compliance with established inventory, logistics, and quality procedures.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare computer-generated bills of lading, packing lists, and import/export documentation in accordance with established inventory and compliance procedures.
  • Assist and interact with drivers and vendors at the shipping office window, ensuring efficient communication and processing.
  • Utilize Open Dock software to manage dock scheduling and workflow.
  • Perform bin location data entry and maintain accurate inventory records.
  • Process all product returns, ensuring proper documentation and system updates.
  • Open, review, and approve freight bills both manually and electronically through the Transportation Management System (TMS).
  • Process all UPS shipments, ensuring accuracy and timely dispatch.
  • Ensure all period-end processes are completed accurately and on schedule.
  • Maintain organized and compliant filing systems for all shipping and receiving documentation.
  • Prepare daily shipping and receiving logs within the AS400 system.
  • Receive all MRO and finished goods into the AS400 purchasing module, including verification of vendor packing lists, unit number entry, and label printing as required.
  • Update and maintain scorecards and performance tracking tools.
  • Capture, organize, and manage photos of all inbound and outbound shipments for documentation and audit purposes.
  • Maintain proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, including Excel, and demonstrate strong numerical accuracy.
  • Utilize TMS platforms (MercuryGate preferred), GeoDocs, Microsoft Office 365, Lotus Notes, and AS400 systems.
  • Perform additional duties and support tasks as assigned to meet operational needs.

Qualifications & Skills
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of shipping and receiving experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience using a Transportation Management System (TMS); Mercury Gate strongly preferred. as well as OpenDoc scheduler and Emerge RFP/Bid tool.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication skills and proficiency with ten-key entry.
  • Ability to stand, sit, walk, and crouch frequently (25%-75%).
  • Ability to bend, stoop, twist, crawl, kneel, and climb occasionally (up to 25%).
  • Ability to reach, handle, and manipulate materials continuously (75% or more).
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions with fingers, wrists, arms, and shoulders continuously (75% or more).
  • Ability to perform repetitive leg/foot motions frequently (25%-75%) and occasional pinching motions.
  • Ability to lift up to 10 lbs frequently (25%-75%) and lift/carry 10-50 lbs occasionally (up to 25%).
