Description
BCS365 is seeking a hands-on, client-facing Business Applications Engineer to join its growing Application Solutions & AI Automation practice. In this role, the individual will design, build, and deliver production-quality solutions for clients across a range of industries, including professional services, manufacturing, construction, healthcare-adjacent sectors, finance, and nonprofit organizations.
The Business Applications Engineer serves as a technical consultant and developer responsible for engaging directly with client stakeholders, understanding business challenges, and translating requirements into robust Microsoft 365 and Power Platform solutions. This individual is comfortable participating in discovery workshops as well as working within development environments. The role requires a focus on delivering reliable, production-ready solutions that are well-documented and provide measurable business value.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
SharePoint Online Development
  • Design and build SharePoint Online intranet portals, department sites, and document management systems aligned to client business requirements
  • Develop, deploy, and maintain SharePoint Framework (SPFx) web parts and extensions using React and TypeScript
  • Configure and govern SharePoint permissions, hub sites, content types, metadata, and site architecture
  • Lead or support SharePoint Online modernization projects, including page redesigns and classic-to-modern migrations

Power Platform Delivery
  • Build production-grade Power Apps (model-driven and canvas) to replace legacy processes and manual workflows
  • Design and implement Power Automate flows with complex logic, error handling, retry patterns, and external API integrations
  • Model and manage Dataverse environments, tables, relationships, business rules, and security roles
  • Manage Power Platform environments, solutions, ALM practices, and deployment pipelines

AI Automation & Integrations
  • Design and build Copilot Studio agents for client-facing and internal automation use cases
  • Integrate Microsoft 365 workloads with external systems using Azure Functions, Logic Apps, and Microsoft Graph API
  • Build REST API integrations using Power Automate custom connectors and HTTP actions
  • Identify and prototype AI automation opportunities during client discovery engagements

Migrations & Technical Discovery
  • Plan and execute file share to SharePoint Online migrations using ShareGate or equivalent tooling
  • Lead technical discovery sessions to gather requirements, assess existing environments, and produce scoping documentation
  • Create solution design documents, architecture diagrams, and client-ready deliverable documentation

Reporting & Analytics
  • Develop Power BI reports and dashboards using operational data from SharePoint, Dataverse, and connected systems
  • Write DAX measures and transform data using Power Query to support client reporting requirements

Competencies, Skills, and Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience delivering Microsoft 365 and Power Platform solutions in a client-facing or consulting environment
  • Demonstrated experience building production Power Apps (canvas and/or model-driven) and Power Automate flows
  • Strong working knowledge of SharePoint Online architecture, governance, permissions, and site management
  • Experience with Dataverse data modeling and application development
  • Practical experience with REST APIs, JSON structures, and HTTP integration patterns
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical business stakeholders
  • Demonstrated experience completing multi-phase technical projects independently
  • Experience writing technical documentation: design documents, runbooks, user guides, or handover documentation

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with SharePoint Framework (SPFx) web part development using React and TypeScript
  • Experience with Azure Functions, Azure Logic Apps, or other Azure integration services
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Graph API for M365 workload integration
  • Experience with PowerShell scripting for SharePoint, Teams, or Power Platform administration
  • Experience with ShareGate or comparable migration tooling
  • Power BI development experience including DAX, Power Query, and report design
  • Exposure to Copilot Studio or AI automation scenarios in Microsoft 365
  • Managed services or MSP consulting environment experience
