Remote Seed Science information

What is remote seed science?

A Remote Seed Science job involves studying seeds and their biology, genetics, and production from a remote location, such as a home office or laboratory. These professionals may work on projects related to seed development, quality testing, genetic improvement, or conservation, often using digital tools and remote collaboration with other scientists, farmers, or companies. Remote Seed Scientists typically analyze data, write reports, and participate in virtual meetings rather than being physically present in a laboratory or field.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote seed scientist?

To thrive as a Remote Seed Scientist, you need a strong background in plant biology, genetics, and agronomy, often supported by a degree in a relevant field such as plant science or agricultural science. Proficiency with data analysis software, remote sensing technologies, and laboratory management systems is typically required. Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and effective communication skills are essential soft skills for collaborating with remote teams and stakeholders. These competencies are crucial for advancing seed research, ensuring data accuracy, and driving innovation in agricultural productivity from a distance.

What are some typical challenges faced by professionals in remote seed science roles, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals working in remote seed science often encounter challenges such as limited access to laboratory facilities, reliance on digital communication for team collaboration, and the need to manage fieldwork logistics from a distance. Overcoming these hurdles commonly involves leveraging data management tools, maintaining regular virtual meetings with colleagues, and coordinating with local partners or field technicians to ensure timely data collection. Building strong digital communication skills and utilizing cloud-based research platforms can help remote seed scientists stay connected and productive.

Job description

San Francisco, CA · Hybrid · Full-time
Compensation: $150,000–$250,000 + equity

About the Company

Our client is a seed-stage, venture-backed startup building an agentic AI platform for enterprise software delivery. Their product is already in live use across large enterprise implementations, and they are growing a small, high-caliber engineering team.

Founded 2024 · ~15 people · Industry: B2B, Enterprise, AI

The Role

As a Product Engineer, you will own features end to end across the full stack, working on a product embedded in live, high-stakes enterprise implementations. You will talk directly with customers, turn their problems into working software, and own what you ship all the way through deployment and beyond. You take best practices seriously and treat AI tooling as a way to move faster without cutting corners.

What you will be doing

  • Build across the full stack: data pipelines, LLM integrations, agentic workflows, and the customer-facing interfaces users rely on daily.
  • Work directly with customers to translate real friction into shipped product, then own it through deployment.

Tech stack: TypeScript, Python, SQL, cloud infrastructure, LLMs (React frontend, Python/FastAPI backend)

Requirements
  • 0 to 5 years of experience as a full-stack or product engineer.
  • A track record of shipping products or features to real users (strong internships and substantial side projects count for newer grads).
  • Experience at an organization with a high engineering bar, ideally a venture-backed startup.
  • A computer science degree from a strong program, with clear evidence of technical excellence.
  • Full-stack capability, ideally TypeScript/React on the frontend and Python/FastAPI on the backend.
  • Demonstrated ambition and high ownership, shown through ambitious side projects, hackathons, strong companies, or similar signals.
Nice to Haves
  • Experience at companies building B2B or ERP-adjacent products.
  • Experience building LLM-powered features.
  • A portfolio of recent, ambitious side projects.
Why Join
  • Own meaningful work end to end on a product used in large, real-world enterprise deployments.
  • Join a small, high-bar team where the standard is ambition and ownership.
  • Competitive base pay plus above-market equity at an early-stage company.
Details
  • Location: San Francisco, CA
  • Work policy: Hybrid, in-office Monday to Thursday, remote Friday
  • Compensation: $150,000–$250,000 + equity
  • Visa sponsorship: Open to transfers (OPT, H-1B); H-1B and O-1 sponsorship for US-based candidates
  • Employment type: Full-time
