Familiarity with tools like vulnerability scanners, security information and event management (SIEM) systems, and risk assessment frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001) is essential. What is a Remote Security Risk Assessment?

A Remote Security Risk Assessment is a process where security professionals evaluate an organization's security risks, vulnerabilities, and threats without being physically present on-site. This assessment is typically conducted through virtual meetings, digital questionnaires, and remote access to systems and documentation. The goal is to identify potential security gaps and recommend improvements to protect sensitive data and systems from cyber threats. Remote assessments have become increasingly popular due to their flexibility, cost-effectiveness, and ability to serve organizations regardless of location.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals in remote security risk assessment roles?

Professionals in remote security risk assessment often encounter challenges such as limited on-site visibility, reliance on digital communication, and the need to assess complex IT environments from afar. Effective collaboration with on-site staff and stakeholders is essential to gather accurate information and implement recommendations. Additionally, staying up-to-date with evolving cybersecurity threats and maintaining clear documentation are vital for success in this role.

Job description

Are you a multi-faceted architect ready for your next challenge? Smart, pragmatic, and someone who actually gets things done? Tired of being stuck in a corporate rut? Do you like flexing across domains, being the "go-to" for both business and tech, and mentoring others along the way?
Our mission is simple: help our clients get maximum value out of their technology investments. We assess enterprise architectures, design complex integrations, and provide architecture leadership for big, messy initiatives like mergers, modernizations, and cloud migrations. We don't do software development or run infrastructure. We're the trusted experts our clients lean on for the two questions that matter most:
  1. What should they do (enterprise architecture and planning), and
  2. How should they do it (solution architecture)?

Most of the time you're leading solution design on large, complex security projects: architecting end-to-end solutions and working through integration patterns, data flows, APIs, security, and the non-functional details that make or break a design. It's a hands-on seat AND a strategy-deck seat. The center of gravity is you in the thick of it, creating guardrails for security architeture in an AI-emergent world and owning the toughest solution designs yourself and stepping in when a domain needs reinforcement, a decision is stuck, or a design needs a second set of expert eyes.
Requirements
What we're really after: You're a seasoned solution architect who has worked within large, complex organizations and is technically current enough to design real solutions, not just hand down principles. You adeptly navigate organization politics and facilitate fact-based desicisons.
Concretely, that looks like:
  • Personally designing end-to-end solutions: integration patterns, data flows, APIs, security, and the non-functional stuff that makes or breaks a design.
  • Establishing, but also carrying enterprise standards and strategies into the projects you work on, and keeping designs aligned with them, without needing to own or police the governance machinery.
  • Ramping up quickly on new business capabilities and processes, quickly filling gaps in your knowledge so you can partnering with those business users and design solutions that fit how they actually operate.
  • Real breadth across application, data, and integration architecture, with genuine depth in data and modern data patterns, comfortable working across cloud and on-prem environments, and the judgment to evaluate vendors and platforms on the merits.
  • Translating fluently between the executive/business view and engineering reality, and defending a recommendation with facts and trade-offs in a room with either audience.
  • Financial services or other regulated-industry experience is a strong plus.

Bonus points (helpful for what's on our plate right now, but not required):
  • Experience in Health Care, ideally on the payer side.
  • Experience conducting security risk assessments for complex enterprise solutions .
  • A solid working knowledge of AI in large enterprises and sepcifically the security implications "on both sides of the fence."

Non-starters:
  • At this time we don't sponsor immigration applications (H-1B, etc.) and are only interested in direct candidates (no agencies). Background check is required.

Benefits
The comp for this role ranges (based on skills and experience) from $125K - $185K.
On top of that: generous PTO and paid holidays, a company-funded health reimbursement (QSEHRA) toward your insurance premiums and medical costs, and a 401(k) with company contribution. All fully remote, with a steady stream of diverse, high-impact projects and smart people to work alongside.
Ready for your next challenge? Send us an application and let's find out if we're a match.
