Job description

The AppSec Sales Engineer is the technical liaison who bridges sales and engineering, expertly articulating the technology and product positioning of our AI-Native DevSecOps platform to executive, business, and technical audiences. They provide critical technical support, drive and manage the technology evaluation stage, ensure customer success in adopting application and AI security products, and strategize to achieve commercial relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver world-class platform presentations and demos focused on Application Security Testing and Runtime Protection as part of the larger DevSecOps landscape.

  • Evangelize the benefits of the Harness AI-Native DevSecOps platform, highlighting its AppSec and API/AI Security capabilities, including SCA, SAST, DAST, and runtime protection

  • Connect business security risks and compliance problems to technical solutions within the end-to-end DevSecOps pipeline.

  • Drive complex technical engagements, such as workshops and POVs, to prove Harness's value in securing the entire software development lifecycle (SDLC) from code to operation, including API and AI workflows.

About You

  • Responsible for delivering product demonstrations that show customer value in eliminating security debt for developed software and mitigating emerging API and AI risks.

  • Experience as a Pre-Sales Engineer supporting SaaS/software sales in the DevSecOps or Cybersecurity domain or a strong practitioner with experience in the software evaluation and buying process.

  • Hands-on experience with modern application security practices and tools (e.g., API Security, AI Security, SAST, DAST, SCA, or other similar technologies).

  • Appreciation for cloud-native application security and the security risks associated with the integration of GenAI.

  • Remain current on emerging technologies and developments in AI security, software supply chain security, and threat landscapes.

  • Able to convey complex customer security requirements and feature requests to Engineering.

  • Ability and willingness to travel, occasionally on short notice, for customer engagements, internal meetings, or trade shows/conferences.
