Job description

Job Title: - Oracle Techno-Functional Consultant

Job Location: - Texas (REMOTE)

Job Type: - Long Term Contract

Note: 10% travel to either Houston or Dallas Office

Responsibilities:

We are currently seeking a Systems Analyst for Oracle eBusiness Systems, on-premise release R12.2.10.  The Analyst will work effectively under minimal supervision and provide application support for customizations and extensions covering modules in Finance or Oracle Projects. This position will support our business users, participate in all relevant changes management activities, and overall service delivery and customer satisfaction. This will require interaction with core business users and the need to work as a team member of a large Oracle support team.

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provides application functional and limited technical support for Oracle eBusiness Systems Modules in Finance (AR, AP, GL, CM, FA, iExpense, and iSupplier) and in Projects (Costing, Billing, Accounting). Prior experience in a support role is required.
  • Must be customer facing, willing to take on system operational challenges, articulate ideas clearly, understand the problem and identify the underlying cause of the system issue.
  • Must be able to identify customizations from standard feature and functionality. A keen, inquisitive and investigative approach to problem solving using data as evidence. Must be able to generate adhoc reports to support or identify the magnitude of the issue at hand.
  • Troubleshoots, identifies the underlying cause, and recommends workarounds and/or corrective actions to mitigate the impediment.
  • Use diagnostics scripts, SQL and other query writing tools to analyze data, extract data for ad hoc reporting, and identify constraints and integrity issues with data.
  • Provide data correction scripts to address a defect due to inconsistent state of the data.
  • Conduct conference room pilots, user acceptance testing on defect fixes, features and system improvements, ensuring acceptance criteria is met without significant impediments.
  • Responsible for completion of all required Change Management tasks and relevant SOX control requirements (if applicable).
  • Utilize industry accepted project management principles, methodologies, tools, and best practices throughout the project life cycle.
  • Acquire and utilizes business knowledge by taking advantage of available resources (internet, books, periodicals, classes/workshops, conferences, etc.) to develop and deliver business expertise solutions.
  • Tracking deliverables and provide reporting to management as needed.
  • Willing to travel up to10%.

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university with Accounting Major, or 5 years of related industry is required.
  • At least 5-7 years of experience working and supporting Oracle eBusiness Modules. Preferably Finance and/or Oracle Projects. It required that the candidate is aware of the dataflow processes between subledger and between subledger and General Ledger.
  • Able to review and understand programming logic constructs used in Workflow, Apex, BI Publisher Reports to learn current system state.
  • 3+ years of experience with SQL, PL/SQL is required.
  • Must be aware of EBS Data model and architecture in the areas of Finance and Projects.
  • 3+ years of programming experience in Oracle Apex is preferred.
  • Experience working in a multi-developer, team environment is preferred.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies (SCRUM, Kanban) is preferred.
  • Able to articulate application behavior, current and future states, in a language that is understood by the end user.

Top daily priorities/responsibilities:

  • As part of the production support team, a typical day at work involves in responding customer calls, understanding the business problem or a system issue as reported by the customer using screen share or in-person, identifying the root cause of the problem by troubleshooting, providing system work-around or error recovery options, adjusting the data state (if necessary) using SQL scripts, testing the proposed solution by collaborating with the customer and/or other application teams and ensuing that the proposed fix solves the issue at hand. The applicant will also be responsible for programming changes to address the root cause of the problem and have the solution reviewed by the business department users, ensure regression scenarios are identified and tested, follow change management process to promote the program units to UAT and production environments. The applicant uses incident management tools (such as Helix), documents the issue, workarounds and error recovery steps. The applicant will also engage with Oracle support, on a case-by-case basis, to assist with diagnosis, troubleshoot and verifying patch accuracy, before promoting to testing and production environments.
  • Candidate who are likely to succeed in this role have experience as a business analyst with technical knowledge, quality assurance analyst or as a techno-functional consultant with application know-how on dataflows between subledger applications and General Ledger, are currently using Oracle R12.2 on-prem (or have used Oracle R12.2 on-prem in the last one year).
  • Candidates with most of the experience in database administration, system administration, patching, server maintenance, who have been a liaison between business and IT teams, less knowledgeable on data flow between sub ledgers and general ledger, and less experienced with end-to-end system processes need not apply. Candidates who supported the application in a Technical only capacity do not qualify.
