Zero To One Strategic is a specialized consultancy focused on helping clients maximize revenues from Canadian R&D and Innovation programs. We work with businesses across various sectors, providing expert guidance on securing non-dilutive funding through grants, subsidies, and tax credits.

Position Overview

We are seeking talented and adaptable contract grant writers to join our team on a project-to-project basis. The ideal candidates will have strong writing skills, technical acumen, and the ability to understand and communicate complex R&D projects.

This role combines both junior- and senior-level expertise, meaning we welcome applications from professionals with varying levels of experience, provided they meet the core requirements and can deliver high-quality, compelling grant submissions.

Key Responsibilities

Grant Proposal Development:

  • Write compelling, persuasive, and compliant grant proposals aligned with funding requirements and criteria.
  • Develop budgets, timelines, and other supporting documents for grant submissions.
  • Use AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude) to support research, ideation, and drafting, with the ability to critically edit and refine outputs.


Project Management:

  • Manage the grant application process, including coordinating with clients to gather necessary information.
  • Track and report on the status of assigned grant applications to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Provide post-submission follow-up, including responding to funders' inquiries as needed.

Documentation and Compliance:

  • Ensure all grant proposals are thoroughly documented and meet funders' guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate records of all assigned grant submissions.

Client Communication and Support:

  • Communicate effectively with clients throughout the grant application process.
  • Provide regular updates on application status and next steps.
Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in a relevant field (STEM, Business, English, or related).
  • 2+ years of grant writing experience (minimum); 5+ years preferred for senior-level applicants.
  • Proven track record of securing grants (please list examples in your application).
  • Strong technical acumen with the ability to understand complex scientific/technological concepts.

Compensation

Hourly rate range: 35 75 CAD, depending on experience.
