Job description

More than 135 years ago, we started with core values that never go out of style: listen, learn and help businesses and individuals reach their goals. These core values shape our culture, and we were recently Great Place to Work Certified because of our outstanding workplace culture and employee experience. As well, our financial strength and stability are key reasons Forbes named us one of the Best 100 Banks in America for the ninth consecutive year.
With more than $16 billion in assets and 135 branch locations throughout Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and California, we understand our role in the economy and take that responsibility seriously. In addition to offering a source of capital to personal banking clients and businesses of all sizes, we place a high importance on employee volunteerism and donate millions of dollars each year to community organizations.
As an SBA Business Development Officer, you'll build meaningful client relationships, develop SBA 7(a) lending opportunities, and deliver financing solutions that support local businesses and communities. • Actively market and originate SBA 7(a) lending opportunities.
  • Identify and develop new business relationships to grow your portfolio.
  • Prepare and present credit analyses and lending recommendations.
  • Structure, underwrite, and negotiate loan terms and conditions within delegated authority.
  • Perform credit reviews to ensure compliance with bank policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and manage loan portfolio performance through ongoing reviews and analysis.
  • Represent the bank through community involvement and networking activities to increase awareness of our products and services.
  • Operate independently while managing lending opportunities and client relationships across assigned markets.

What we're looking for
  • You have a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, Economics, Law, Computer Science, or a related field (Required).
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience can be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • You have 4 or more years of experience in commercial credit and business development, including SBA lending (Required).

What helps you shine
  • You have a proven ability to develop and manage business relationships with small to mid-size companies.
  • Bring strong knowledge of SBA 7(a) lending products, regulations, underwriting, and loan structuring.
  • Demonstrate exceptional analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Communicate effectively through both written and verbal channels.
  • You are comfortable presenting recommendations and influencing decisions.
  • You have strong negotiation skills and the ability to build trust with clients and business partners.
  • Possess a solid understanding of banking products and services.
  • You are self-motivated and able to work successfully with minimal direction.
