Remote Salesforce Developer Evening information

What is a remote Salesforce developer (evening)?

A Remote Salesforce Developer (Evening) is a professional who designs, develops, and maintains applications on the Salesforce platform while working remotely during evening hours. They use programming languages like Apex and Lightning Components to customize Salesforce solutions based on business requirements. These developers collaborate with teams and stakeholders, often across different time zones, to ensure seamless integration and performance. The evening schedule is typically chosen to support clients in different regions or to accommodate personal preferences.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote Salesforce developer (evening), and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Salesforce Developer (Evening), you need strong proficiency in Salesforce development (Apex, Lightning components), a solid understanding of CRM workflows, and typically a bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with Salesforce platforms (Salesforce DX, Visualforce), relevant certifications (such as Salesforce Platform Developer I/II), and version control systems like Git are highly valuable. Excellent communication, time management, and problem-solving skills help you collaborate across time zones and efficiently address technical challenges. These skills ensure the delivery of high-quality, scalable solutions while maintaining effective remote teamwork and support during non-standard hours.

What are some common challenges faced by a remote Salesforce developer working evening hours, and how can they be addressed?

One common challenge for a Remote Salesforce Developer working evening hours is coordinating effectively with team members who may be in different time zones or following standard business hours. This can lead to communication gaps or delays in project feedback. To address this, it's important to establish clear communication protocols, utilize collaboration tools like Slack or Jira, and set overlapping hours for critical meetings when possible. Additionally, staying proactive in documenting your work and updates can help keep the team aligned. Embracing flexibility and strong self-management skills are key to thriving in this remote, off-hours role.

Job description

Salesforce Manager
Application Deadline: 24 September 2026
Department: OPS-Information Technology
Employment Type: Permanent - Full Time
Location: Remote
Reporting To: SVP, Chief Technology Officer
Compensation: $105,000 - $135,000 / year
Description
The Salesforce Manager serves as JED's lead hands-on administrator for Salesforce (built on the Nonprofit Success Pack) while managing a team of Salesforce Administrators responsible for delivering on the platform's direction. This role owns the day-to-day administration, configuration, and team leadership of JED's CRM environment, and is a driving voice in shaping the strategy and roadmap that determines how that environment evolves to support our organization. This role works day to day with JED's Technical Project Manager, who owns intake, requirements, and stakeholder management for CRM-related requests; together they ensure scoped, ready-to-work deliverables move smoothly from intake into technical execution. Working across the organization and in close partnership with the CTO, this role ensures JED's CRM environment and its supporting integrations remain aligned to organizational priorities today while building the team and processes needed to scale with JED's growth.
Please Note: Candidates must be physically located in the United States and legally authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future employer sponsorship. Additionally, while this role is remote, our team operates on Eastern Standard Time (EST), and candidates must be available to work during these core hours.
Key Responsibilities
People Management & Team Leadership
• Manage day-to-day workload distribution, prioritization, and coverage across a growing team of full-time and temporary Salesforce Administrators, sized to meet workload, aligning assignments with JED's standard and large-project DevOps tracks.
• Conduct regular one-on-ones, set goals, and deliver performance feedback for direct reports.
• Serve as the escalation point for complex configuration, deployment, or data-integrity issues raised by the team.
• Partner with the CTO on hiring decisions for the Salesforce Administration team, including scaling the team's size as workload requires, and on renewal or extension decisions for temporary staff.
Salesforce Administration & Optimization
• Serve as the lead administrator for JED's Salesforce instances.
• Customize and configure Salesforce by creating and maintaining custom fields, workflows, and validation rules that align with evolving organizational needs.
• Ensure high levels of data integrity and system reliability through regular audits, data cleanup, and proactive performance monitoring.
• Manage Salesforce updates and releases, evaluating new features and integrating third-party applications to enhance functionality.
• Build and maintain insightful reports and dashboards to provide key stakeholders with actionable data on performance metrics and organizational goals.
Technical Delivery & Architecture
• Own architecture and platform-strategy decisions for JED's Salesforce environment, and translate scoped, ready-to-work deliverables from the Technical Project Manager into technical execution.
• Lead the technical planning and execution of Salesforce configuration and deployment work, once requirements and scope are defined.
• Partner with the Technical Project Manager on prioritization calls that affect the broader team's workload, and weigh in on strategy, architecture, or roadmap alignment during handoffs from requirements to execution.
• Stay current with emerging Salesforce and platform capabilities, and propose technical solutions to advance JED's mission and operational effectiveness.
User Training & Support
• Guide the design and delivery of engaging training programs and create clear documentation to drive user adoption and proficiency across all supported platforms.
• Provide timely and effective technical support to all staff, managing an internal ticketing system for platform issues.
• Act as a key technology partner to all departments, proactively gathering feedback to continuously improve systems, processes, and training materials.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Communication
• Maintain clear and consistent communication with stakeholders at all levels, translating technical concepts into understandable updates and reports.
• Serve as the technical voice in cross-departmental discussions on architecture, roadmap, and platform capability, in partnership with the Technical Project Manager as the primary stakeholder point of contact.
• Manage relationships with external vendors and consultants to ensure successful project delivery and alignment with JED's standards.
Functional Ownership
This role owns administration of JED's Salesforce instance and the integrations that connect to it, including Campaign Monitor, Sage Intacct, Fundraise Up, and DonorSearch. This role also owns the Salesforce Administration function's staffing model, a growing team of full-time and temporary Salesforce Administrators sized to meet workload, and is accountable for the team's output, data quality, and adherence to JED's DevOps governance.
Decision Rights & Collaboration
Decides independently: day-to-day Salesforce configuration and workload prioritization within the administration team; scheduling of standard-track deployments consistent with existing Gearset governance; assignment of tickets and coverage across the team.
Requires input or approval: large-project scoping that affects cross-functional timelines, informed by requirements and scope defined through the Technical Project Manager's intake process; changes to the team's overall size or budget; serves as a key voice in any strategic evaluation of JED's CRM platform (e.g., a future platform change), with the final decision resting with the CTO, and CFAO and Chief Growth Officer.
Collaborates closely with: the Technical Project Manager, to receive scoped, ready-to-work deliverables and to align on prioritization calls that affect the broader team's workload; the Salesforce Administration team, as their direct manager and technical escalation point; department stakeholders, on architecture, roadmap, and platform capability questions surfaced through the Technical Project Manager.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
Required
• 5+ years of hands-on experience as a Salesforce Administrator, with a strong preference for experience with the Non-Profit Success Pack (NPSP).
• Deep proficiency in Salesforce, with a demonstrated ability to handle customizations (workflows, custom fields), configurations, integrations, and data analysis using reports and dashboards.
• Demonstrated experience supervising, mentoring, or leading other administrators or technical staff, including managing contractor or temporary resources.
• Proven experience leading technical planning and execution on Salesforce projects, including translating scoped requirements into configuration and deployment work, setting technical timelines, and coordinating with project or program management partners.
• Ability to make and communicate prioritization decisions across competing team workloads.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical team members and foster a collaborative work environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail and the ability to identify and resolve issues effectively.
• Adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving technology landscape and a dynamic organizational environment.
• A genuine passion for and alignment with JED's mission to protect emotional health and prevent suicide for teens and young adults.
Preferred
• Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Salesforce certifications (e.g., Certified Administrator, Advanced Administrator, Platform App Builder).
• Project management certification (e.g., PMP, CAPM).
• People management training or certification (e.g., a first-time manager program).
• Direct experience working in a nonprofit organization.
• Experience integrating various technologies to streamline operations, including familiarity with tools like Google Workspace, Slack, Asana, and Gearset.
• Experience developing and delivering user training and creating support documentation.
