Remote Safety Data Analyst information

What is a remote safety data analyst?

A Remote Safety Data Analyst is a professional who works primarily from a location outside of a traditional office, such as their home, to collect, analyze, and interpret safety-related data. Their main goal is to identify trends, assess risks, and help organizations improve safety protocols and compliance. They use statistical tools and databases to evaluate workplace incidents, product safety information, or regulatory compliance data, depending on the industry. By working remotely, they use digital communication and data management tools to collaborate with teams and stakeholders.

What are some common challenges faced by remote safety data analysts when working with distributed teams?

Remote Safety Data Analysts often collaborate with global teams, which can present challenges such as coordinating across different time zones, ensuring clear communication, and accessing secure data remotely. Building strong relationships through regular virtual meetings and using collaborative tools is essential for effective teamwork. Additionally, maintaining data privacy and adhering to industry regulations while working remotely requires diligence and familiarity with secure data platforms.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote safety data analyst, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Safety Data Analyst, you need strong statistical analysis skills, attention to detail, and a background in public health, life sciences, or a related field. Proficiency in data analysis tools such as SQL, SAS, R, or Python, as well as familiarity with pharmacovigilance databases and safety reporting systems, is typically required. Excellent communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities help you interpret data and present findings clearly to stakeholders. These skills and qualifications are crucial for ensuring accurate safety evaluations and compliance with regulatory standards in a remote work environment.

Is it possible to work remotely as a remote safety data analyst?

Yes, remote safety data analysts can often work from home, especially if their employer offers remote or flexible work options. The role typically involves analyzing safety data using tools like Excel, SQL, or data visualization software, and may require strong communication skills for remote collaboration.

Job description

The Role We Need

PadSplit runs on data, from Growth and Operations to Product and Finance, and we need someone who can turn that data into clear, trustworthy decisions. We're looking for a Senior Data Analyst to own analyses end to end, build durable reporting infrastructure, and help shape how the company measures its business. This person will work daily across our modern data stack (Snowflake, dbt, and Hex) to answer high-impact questions and raise the analytical bar across the team.

The Person We Are Looking For

We're looking for someone with 5+ years of analytics experience who is equally comfortable writing expert-level SQL and translating ambiguous business questions into rigorous, well-documented analysis. This person is a strong communicator who can defend their methodology to technical and non-technical audiences alike, and who brings sound judgment about when to lean on AI tools versus when to verify. They're curious, detail-oriented, and take ownership seriously, from scoping a question through to following up on the outcome.

Here's What You'll Be Doing Day-to-Day:
  • SQL & Analysis: Write, optimize, and maintain complex SQL against our Snowflake warehouse to answer business questions accurately and efficiently.
  • dbt Modeling: Build and maintain dbt models that transform raw data into well-documented, tested, and reusable datasets.
  • Dashboards & Reporting: Build dashboards, apps, and reporting in Hex that leaders trust and use to run the business.
  • Stakeholder Partnership: Partner with teams to define metrics, scope analyses, and translate ambiguous questions into clear analytical work.
  • Anomaly Investigation: Investigate anomalies in key metrics, identify root causes, and communicate findings with clear recommendations.
  • Documentation: Maintain documentation across dbt and Hex so metric definitions stay consistent across teams.
  • Data Quality: Validate sources, pressure-test assumptions, and flag gaps before they reach decision-makers.
  • AI-Assisted Work & Mentorship: Use AI tools to accelerate analysis and reporting while verifying outputs, and mentor other analysts on best practices.
Here's What You'll Need to Be Successful:
  • Analytics Experience: 5+ years of experience in data analytics or a closely related field.
  • Expert SQL: Advanced skills in window functions, CTEs, query optimization, and large, complex datasets.
  • Snowflake Expertise: Hands-on experience with Snowflake as a primary data warehouse.
  • dbt Experience: Building and maintaining dbt models in a production analytics environment, including tests and documentation.
  • Hex/Notebook Reporting: Experience building reporting in Hex or a similar notebook-based analytics platform.
  • End-to-End Ownership: A track record of owning analyses from scoping through delivery and follow-through.
  • Strong Communication: Ability to explain technical findings to non-technical audiences and defend your methodology.
  • AI Fluency & Judgment: Working familiarity with AI tools in analytics, paired with sound judgment on when to verify outputs and how to handle sensitive data.
The Interview Process:
  • Your application will be reviewed for possible next steps by a real human being from the PeopleOps team.
  • If you meet eligibility requirements, the next step would be a video interview with a member of the PeopleOps team for about thirty (30) minutes.
  • If warranted, the next step would be a video interview with our Head of Business Intelligence for forty-five (45) minutes.
  • If warranted, the next step would be an SQL assessment through Coderbyte.
  • If warranted, the next step would be a video panel interview with key stakeholders at PadSplit for one and a half (1.5) hours.
  • If warranted, we move to offer!
Compensation, Benefits, and Perks:
  • Fully remote position - we swear!
  • Competitive compensation package including an equity incentive plan and company-wide bonus opportunity
  • National medical, dental, and vision healthcare plans
  • Company provided life insurance policy
  • Optional accidental insurances, FSA, and DCFSA benefits
  • Unlimited paid-time (PTO) policy with eleven (11) company-observed holidays
  • 401(k) plan
  • Twelve (12) weeks of paid time off for both birth and non-birth parents
  • The opportunity to do what you love at a company that is at the forefront of solving the affordable housing crisis
$45,000 - $55,000 a year
We may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of the hiring process, such as reviewing applications, analyzing resumes, or assessing responses and identifying potential inconsistencies or verification signals in application materials based on available information. These tools assist our recruitment team but do not replace human judgment. Final hiring decisions are ultimately made by humans. If you would like more information about how your data is processed, please contact us.
