Summary
About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the JBSA Fort Sam Houston Outdoor Recreation.
This is a Regular Part-Time category position with guaranteed 20 hours per week, may work up to 40 hrs./week. Employees appointed to a regular category position are eligible for benefits.

Duties
Help
Must be able to assist two activities within the Community Services Flight, RV Park and Outdoor Equipment Center. Responsibilities are issuance of tools, equipment and games to authorized customers. Checks identification, collects fees when appropriate, and completes appropriate documentation. Receives returned items, inspecting for obvious damage, missing parts and perform make-ready on equipment to be reissued. Checks inventories and supplies. In a recreation facility, assists in directing patrons and scheduling the use of equipment. Participates in set up of equipment for installation functions. Provides facility and program information to patrons. Assists with simple repair, lawn maintenance, grounds keeping, and other duties assigned by management. Required to drive a tractor, forklift, toro and Kawasaki mule.

  • This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results.
  • This position has been identified as a Test Designated Position (TDP). The incumbent of this position will be subject to and must consent to a pre-employment and random drug testing. Must have a valid driver's license.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays or special situations.
  • The position requires the incumbent to lift up to 50 lbs which requires the incumbent to complete a favorable pre-employment physical.
  • This position requires the incumbent to have resided in the United States for 3 years and reside in the commuting area of the vacancy location.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Qualifying Experience:
Have excellent customer service experience. Must have experience which provides a working familiarity with the routines and procedures and and/or experience of recreational activities equipment, rules and procedures which involves recreational work in the area of specialty in which the position is assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's):You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:
1. Ability to operate a point-of-sale register system.
2. Knowledge of recreational activities, rules and procedures which involves recreational work in the area of specialty in which the position is assigned.
3. Ability to communicate effectively in English
