What is a remote robotics job?

A Remote Robotics job involves designing, programming, monitoring, or maintaining robotic systems from a remote location. This can include teleoperating robots, developing automation software, or troubleshooting robotic hardware via cloud-based platforms. Remote robotics professionals work in industries such as manufacturing, healthcare, aerospace, and logistics. These roles often require expertise in robotics engineering, programming, and network communications. Advances in AI and IoT have made remote robotics more accessible and crucial for automation and efficiency.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the remote robotics position, and why are they important?

To thrive in Remote Robotics, you need a strong foundation in robotics engineering, computer programming (especially Python, C++, or ROS), and experience with remote system monitoring and troubleshooting. Familiarity with teleoperation platforms, cloud-based control systems, and remote diagnostics tools is essential, with relevant certifications such as CSWA or ROS Developer often preferred. Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective communication are valuable soft skills for collaborating across distributed teams. These skills ensure you can efficiently design, monitor, and maintain robotic systems from a distance while collaborating with colleagues and clients in dynamic environments.

What are some typical challenges faced by professionals in remote robotics roles?

One of the most common challenges in Remote Robotics is troubleshooting hardware and software issues without direct, on-site access, which requires strong analytical and remote diagnostic skills. Professionals in this field often navigate time zone differences and coordinate closely with local technical staff or end users to resolve issues quickly. Effective communication and clear documentation become critical to ensure remote instructions are followed accurately. Additionally, staying up-to-date with evolving technologies and security protocols is essential for maintaining optimal system performance and data safety.

The role ensures employees are paid accurately and on time, benefits programs are administered effectively, and regulatory requirements are met across all regions.

This role is the primary point of accountability for payroll and benefits operations, responsible for maintaining data integrity, resolving complex issues, and driving process improvements that increase accuracy, efficiency, and compliance. The role requires deep technical expertise, strong judgment, and the ability to independently identify root causes and implement sustainable solutions across multiple countries.

Partnering closely with Human Resources, Finance, external payroll providers, and benefits brokers, this role ensures payroll and benefits programs operate effectively and supports business and employee needs. This opportunity is ideal for someone who thrives in a highly accountable environment, enjoys solving complex operational challenges, and takes ownership of critical processes from strategy through execution.

This position is onsite at our Oakland, NJ headquarters.

  • Drive continuous improvement across payroll and benefits operations by simplifying processes, increasing automation, strengthening controls, and enhancing the employee experience while improving accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency.
  • Lead the evaluation, testing, and implementation of payroll and benefits system enhancements, ensuring Workday supports evolving business needs, regulatory requirements, and operational best practices across the United States, Canada, and Australia.

Benefits Administration

  • Own benefits administration within Workday, ensuring accurate configuration, eligibility rules, enrollments, deductions, and data integrity.
  • Troubleshoot complex benefits issues and resolve root causes within Workday and related processes.
  • Partner with HR Business Partners on employee and manager escalations and coordinate with the benefits broker on complex cases.
  • Ensure benefit elections, deductions, and payroll impacts are processed accurately and timely.
  • Support annual enrollment activities, benefit plan changes, testing, and system updates.

Compliance and Risk

  • Ensure compliance with payroll, tax, and employment-related regulations across the United States, Canada, and Australia by monitoring legislative changes, assessing business impact, and implementing required updates to payroll and benefits processes, systems, and controls.
