Regional Service Engineer, Chicago / Milwaukee

Minster Stamping Presses & Feedlines

Nidec Minster Corporation located in Minster, OH has an immediate opening for a Regional Service Engineer to support the Minster customer base in the Chicago, IL / Milwaukee, WI area. This person will serve as the primary Customer Service representative for this region. This role is highly autonomous, having a high degree of customer contact both in person and remote. Ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical aptitude, the ability to perform mechanical repairs, equipment inspections, excellent trouble shooting skills along with a strong desire to satisfy customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own all technical service activity, managing customer interventions, establishing priorities, and customer commitments. Act with a sense of urgency to support customer in critical situations.
  • Lead customer courtesy calls, complex troubleshooting, inspections, repairs, installations, upgrades, retrofits, and system optimizations.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Minster sales, service, and engineering while operating independently in the field. Field service technicians will be made available to support large projects.
  • Proactively identify customers' reliability risks and recommend corrective actions, upgrades, or modernization solutions.
  • Build long-term customer relationships as a trusted technical partner, not just a responder to service calls.
  • Inform and educate customers on Minster aftermarket services โ€“ Service Agreements, Upgrades, Component Remanufacturing, Repair Parts, Operator and Maintenance Training.
  • Document findings, recommendations, and service actions with a focus on repeatability and continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate and lead customer service projects from start to finish, which includes duties such as:
    • Generating work orders, quotations, invoices and reports.
    • Coordinate all needed documentation such as prints, service manuals, service forms, etc.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts related to service execution, reporting quality, communication and customer experience.
  • Work flexible hours to support customer service needs.
  • Frequent travel to customer locations and occasional travel to Minster headquarters will be required. A company vehicle with service tools will be provided. Travel expenses to be reimbursed based on receipts.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Technical degree is preferred but not required.
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience with stamping presses and feedlines. Specific knowledge of Minster equipment is preferred, and specific knowledge of metal stamping equipment is required.
  • Strong expertise in mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, lubrication systems are required with demonstrated ability to effectively trouble shoot and solve complex mechanical issues.
  • Blueprint schematic reading and comprehension required
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in customer-facing technical roles with strong interpersonal skills; the ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbally.
  • Project management skills are essential.
  • Proficiency with SAP and Microsoft Office Suite.
