What are some common challenges remote RNs face and how can they overcome them?
What is the difference between Remote Rn vs Remote Lpn?
| Aspect | Remote Rn | Remote Lpn |
|---|---|---|
| Required Credentials | Registered Nurse (RN) license, BSN often preferred | Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license |
| Work Environment | Hospitals, clinics, telehealth platforms | Long-term care, home health, telehealth |
| Employer & Industry Usage | Hospitals, healthcare providers, telehealth companies | Long-term care facilities, home health agencies |
Remote Rns typically hold a registered nurse license and work in hospitals or telehealth settings, providing comprehensive patient care. Remote Lpns, with a practical nurse license, often work in long-term care or home health. While both roles involve remote patient interaction, Rns usually handle more complex cases, whereas Lpns focus on basic patient care tasks.

How to Become a Remote RN
To become a remote nurse, you need the same training, education, and qualifications that non-remote nurses possess, namely nursing licensure in your state. Some virtual RN roles may also require some period of on-site training to learn procedures. Since your duties include performing patient triage via telephone, webcam, or chat apps, you also need strong technical skills and a high-speed internet connection. Fluency in more than one language is a big plus, as is a strong track record of success in self-directed roles. Additionally, a variety of telehealth certifications are available, and these increase your appeal with potential employers.

What You'll Do
As an APP with Imagine Pediatrics, you influence and ensure the best clinical care for your patients. Our goal is to increase the number of safe days at home by ensuring kids and families get what they need when they need it-reducing unnecessary medical visits and hospitalizations. You will:

- Empower families - Educate and support parents to navigate their child's health journey with confidence, ensuring long term health success.
- Deliver high-quality virtual care - Conduct virtual enrollment visits, acute escalations, sick visits, and post-hospital follow-ups, and even in-home virtual assessments supported by our Mobile Integrated Care team.
- Ensure continuity of care - Step in when needed to bridge care gaps, coordinating prescriptions, and streamline referrals, to remove barriers to care.

You're driven by a commitment to transform pediatric healthcare, especially for children with special health care needs. Your passion for creating equitable, accessible care aligns with our mission to ensure every child receives the support they deserve. As a key team member, you'll help shape our inclusive, values-driven culture while adapting skillfully to the dynamic pace of our growing organization. You embrace change and pivot on priorities in a fast-paced startup environment. You will need:
- Minimum 5 years' experience with a pediatric population required, Community Based Health or Complex Care strongly preferred.
- You have completed an accredited program for Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA-C) and hold an unrestricted NP or PA state license, including board certification.
- Active NJ or NC licensure is required, and an additional license in FL, NY, GA or DC is preferred
- Experience and comfort with children with complex medical needs
- Experience with Medicaid and/or Community health preferred
- Virtual care experience a plus.

- Ability to lead and guide a clinical team.
