Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough preliminary interviews with clients, documenting each case meticulously from initial consultation through to treatment conclusion.
  • Evaluate clientsโ€™ mental, emotional, and behavioral health to develop effective treatment plans tailored to individual needs.
  • Facilitate both individual and group therapy sessions, creating a therapeutic environment conducive to healing and personal growth.
  • Monitor clientsโ€™ progress consistently, making necessary adjustments to the treatment plan based on their evolving needs.
  • Collaborate with other mental health professionals, including psychologists, psychiatrists, nurses, and social workers, to ensure a coordinated approach to client care.
  • Follow up with hospital psychiatrists and attending physicians for clients requiring inpatient care, ensuring continuity of support.
  • Identify barriers to recovery and implement strategies to mitigate these challenges, empowering clients on their path to wellness.
  • Guide family members and primary caregivers in managing mental and behavioral challenges related to their loved ones.
Patient Population / Client Focus

You will work with a diverse range of clients, including individuals facing anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, and other mental health conditions. Your ability to empathize and connect with clients from various backgrounds will be essential in building rapport and trust. Your insights will enable clients to navigate their personal challenges and foster healthier relationships with themselves and others.

Qualifications
  • Must possess a Masterโ€™s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
  • A current and valid license as an LMFT, LCPC, or LCSW in the state of Illinois is required.
  • Successful completion of the National Counselor Examination (NCE) and/or the National Clinical Mental Health Counselor Examination (NCMHCE).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts in an easily understandable manner for clients.
Preferred Experience
  • Previous experience working as a mental health counselor in a clinical setting, ideally with telehealth modalities.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record systems, particularly AVATAR.
  • A solid understanding of co-occurring physical and emotional health conditions, along with substance use disorders.
  • Knowledge of best practices as outlined by the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA).
  • Adeptness in understanding the implications of medications prescribed by other healthcare professionals.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills characterized by a sympathetic and compassionate demeanor.
