What is a remote RN poison control?

Remote RN Poison Control nurses are registered nurses who provide expert advice and guidance to individuals, families, and healthcare providers over the phone or online regarding potential poison exposures. They assess the situation, recommend appropriate actions, and may coordinate with emergency services if necessary. These nurses work remotely, often for poison control centers or telehealth organizations, using their clinical expertise to prevent harm and ensure patient safety from a distance.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote RN poison control?

To thrive as a Remote RN Poison Control, you need a strong clinical background in nursing, critical thinking, and specialized knowledge in toxicology, typically supported by an active RN license and poison control training. Familiarity with poison information databases, electronic documentation systems, and telehealth platforms is essential. Superior communication, calmness under pressure, and problem-solving abilities are crucial soft skills for effectively guiding patients and coordinating with healthcare providers remotely. These skills ensure accurate, timely, and safe advice is given during emergencies, directly impacting patient outcomes.

What are some common challenges remote RN poison control nurses face, and how can they effectively manage them?

Remote RN Poison Control nurses often encounter challenges such as handling high call volumes, quickly assessing critical situations over the phone, and managing the stress of providing accurate, life-saving advice without direct patient contact. To effectively manage these challenges, it's essential to develop strong communication skills, remain calm under pressure, and stay updated on toxicology protocols and resources. Collaborating closely with physicians and fellow poison control staff, as well as participating in ongoing training, helps ensure high-quality care and professional growth in this specialized role.

How to become a remote RN poison control?

To become a remote RN poison control specialist, you need to obtain a valid nursing license, typically a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), and gain experience in emergency or toxicology settings. Certification in poison information or toxicology, such as the Certified Specialist in Poison Information (CSPI), can enhance qualifications. Strong communication skills and familiarity with telehealth tools are also important for remote work.

Job description

Create the future of e-health together with us by becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN/LVN) - Remote Patient Monitoring

RNs welcome to apply

Remote | Full-Time | Monday to Friday | No Nights, Weekends, or Holidays

Pay: Up to $25/hour

About the role

If you're a nurse looking for a way out of the bedside grind without giving up patient care, read on.

As an RPM Nurse at CGM, you manage a panel of patients living with chronic conditions like hypertension, diabetes, CHF, and COPD. You review their daily vitals, catch the trends that matter, run monthly check-in calls, and loop in providers when something needs attention. Real nursing, from your home office.

Why nurses are choosing this role over traditional bedside work
  • Work from home, every day. This is a fully remote position. Set up your home office, skip the commute, and reclaim your time.
  • Predictable Monday to Friday schedule. No 12-hour shifts, no overnights, no weekends, no holidays.
  • Steady $25/hour pay without the physical demands of patient-facing care.
  • Real career growth. As CGM's RPM business grows, so do opportunities to move into senior clinical, training, or program leadership roles.
  • Use your nursing skills differently. Build relationships with your patient panel and support them over months, not minutes.
What you'll do
  • Review daily vitals (BP, weight, glucose, SpO2) from your panel and act on what you find.
  • Triage out-of-range readings and escalate to the supervising provider with a clear recommendation.
  • Document every review, intervention, and call to meet CMS billing requirements.
  • Run monthly check-in calls: assess symptoms, review meds, reinforce the care plan, answer questions.
  • Onboard new patients and walk them through their devices.
  • Bridge the patient and the provider's office. Relay concerns, follow up on orders, close the loop.
  • Flag access barriers (transportation, cost, caregiver support) and connect patients to resources.
What we're looking for
  • Active, unrestricted LPN/LVN or RN license as well as 2+ years of nursing experience.
  • Compact Nursing License required.
  • Strong clinical assessment skills with chronic disease populations (HTN, DM, CHF, COPD).
  • Excellent phone communication. You build rapport fast and explain complex things simply.
  • Comfort with technology: EHRs, RPM platforms, video conferencing.
  • Self-directed. You manage a panel without hand-holding.
  • Spanish language skills a plus.
What CGM offers
  • Purpose: Become a part of a significant initiative. At the intersection of healthcare and digital innovation, we are shaping the future of e-health.
  • Equal Opportunity Employer: At CGM, we value our team members and strive to create an environment where everyone has the opportunity to succeed.
  • Career Opportunities: We are offering a variety of internal career opportunities and numerous long-term perspectives.
  • Security: We offer a secure workplace in a crisis-proof market.
  • All-round benefits package: Medical, Dental and Vision as well as 401k with employer matching. Personal Time Off to promote work life balance.
  • Work environment: Modern workplaces, flexible working hours, hybrid work options and much more.
Ready to move from the bedside to a role where you still make a clinical difference?

Convinced? Submit your application now! Please make sure to include your salary expectations as well as your earliest possible hire date.
