Job Description:
Job Summary
Responsible for providing direct patient care and clinical support to providers in an outpatient clinic setting. Obtains patient medical histories, expedites patient flow, rooms patients, and stocks clinic with necessary supplies. Navigates electronic health record systems, schedules and follows up on appointments, and assists with medication requests, prior authorizations, and scheduling tests, procedures, and consults. Communicates respectfully with pharmacies, insurance companies, patients, and physicians while upholding service excellence standards. Supports both clinical and administrative functions to ensure efficient and patient care.
Essential Functions
โ€ข Checks in and checks out patients, schedules tests and procedures, and verifies insurance coverage and authorizations.
โ€ข Prepares charts, enters charges, completes required paperwork, and maintains accurate medical records and documentation.
โ€ข Performs medical necessity checks, gathers and records health history, vital signs, and other pertinent data.
โ€ข Responds to patient phone calls, documents requests, and communicates with clinical staff and providers as needed.
โ€ข Provides basic patient care, performs point-of-care skills and clinical procedures within certification, and administers medications.
โ€ข Demonstrates service excellence, maintains patient privacy, and engages in patient and employee satisfaction initiatives.
โ€ข Works efficiently, prioritizes tasks, improves workflow, and collaborates within the interdisciplinary team.
โ€ข Assumes responsibility for professional development, completes required competencies, maintains certifications, and serves as a preceptor for new staff.

Education Requirement
High school diploma or equivalent and vocational/technical training in a designated technical area
Experience Requirement
0-2 years of experience in a healthcare, clinical setting, or a relevant area
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
All experience must be paid and in the same related field.
Part-time and PRN experience will be prorated based on hours worked per week.
Volunteer work and internships for academic credit are not counted.
