What Are Jobs for an RN Coder Who Works Remotely?
A remote RN coder works with medical codes that healthcare providers use for patient records, billing, insurance, and quality assurance. In this career, your duties include using the internet to access patient records and reports. You then assign codes for each diagnosis and procedure that the patient receives in the medical facility’s database. You work with clinical coding systems like the International Classification of Diseases (ICD) and Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) codes. In addition to applying codes, your responsibilities as an RN coder sometimes include auditing the work of other coders to ensure accuracy.

As a Registered Nurse serving remote First Nations communities in Alberta, you will play a vital role in delivering holistic, culturally competent care within an expanded scope of practice. This position involves assessing patients of all ages with diverse health needs, using critical thinking and evidence-based guidelines to develop and implement care plans. You'll collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, and interdisciplinary teams to provide primary care services, including newborn deliveries, acute illness treatment, and chronic care follow-ups. Beyond clinical duties, you'll educate, counsel, and advocate for patients while ensuring their physical, psychological, and spiritual well-being. - An active driver's license and a clean driving record.
- 2 years of full-time nursing in the last five years in the emergency room, intensive care unit, or as a community health nurse in a remote/rural area.
- Additional critical care nursing experience (cardiovascular intensive care unit, post-anesthesia unit) is an asset.
- Alignment with our values of expertise, passion, respect, and care.
Preference for:
- An elevated level of knowledge and the ability to interpret relevant medical and operational guidelines, protocols, policies, and procedures.
- Knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite.
- Collaboration with others to achieve the best results and deliver the most value.
- Holding others accountable and expecting others to do the same.
By joining International SOS, you will contribute to a global network dedicated to protecting people and organisations. We offer a dynamic and respectful workplace where expertise, innovation, and collaboration drive our success.
