The Opportunity

The Finance Solutions Factory Team is seeking a talented new teammate who likes solving hard problems and thrives on making a difference. The Strategy Director will dig into business problems and define holistic technology, data, and process solutions to drive better outcomes across all areas of Finance. In this role, you will ensure that technology investments are purposeful, that solutions are grounded in strategic intent, and that Finance continuously improves how it operates and delivers value to the Association.  This is an individual contributor role that requires a great deal of thought leadership, self-direction, and judgement.

We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX, Plano, TX, Phoenix, AZ, Colorado Springs, CO, Charlotte, NC, or Tampa, FL. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

What you'll do:

  • Triage and prioritize incoming solution requests, ensuring alignment with business strategy and organizational capacity

  • Lead discovery efforts on business cases, gathering high-level requirements and validating feasibility

  • Partner with business teams to refine and strengthen business cases for investment decisions

  • Define prospective solutions, translating complex problems into clear, actionable recommendations

  • Analyze solution trade-offs across cost, risk, timeline, and strategic fit to guide informed decision-making

  • Influence business strategy by providing expert perspective to executive leaders and key stakeholders

  • Identify and drive improvements to ongoing Finance operations through process and technology optimization

  • Develop proofs of concept to validate solution approaches before full-scale investment

  • Advise and counsel senior leaders and stakeholders on solution direction, emerging capabilities, and strategic options

  • Conduct industry and competitive research to identify potential strategic opportunities and threats. Communicate insights and recommendations to leadership, facilitating alignment on responsive actions to be taken.

  • Support the development and coaching of junior teammates.

  • Ensure risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.

What you have:

  • Bachelor's degree; OR 4 years of relevant education and/or experience.

  • 8 years of strategy consulting, corporate or business unit strategy or relevant work experience; or an Advanced Degree in Business or STEM and 6 years strategy consulting, corporate or business unit strategy or relevant work experience.

  • Experience in technical architecture, solution architecture or solution engineering

  • Strong critical thinking skills and inquisitive mindset, with ability to elevate thinking and apply judgment to how components fit into the broader picture.

  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and written and oral communication skills.

Compensation range: The salary range for this position is: $143,320 - $273,930.

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location.
