  • FTE: 1.0

  • Location: Remote. Candidate must reside in WI, MN, IA, or MI at the time of hire. Immigration sponsorship (e.g., H1B) is not available for this position.

Position Summary:

As the Principal Security Architect, you will serve as a senior technical authority and strategic advisor for enterprise information security. You will define, evolve, and govern security architecture across the organization-ensuring that systems, data, and people are protected in an environment of accelerating digital transformation.

You will partner closely with engineering, infrastructure, and application teams, as well as senior leadership, to shape longterm security strategy, guide architectural decisions, and drive adoption of modern security patterns and controls.

What you will do:

  • Architect and govern enterprisewide security patterns, frameworks, and reference architectures across applications, databases, networks, and infrastructure.

  • Recommend and influence architectural changes that strengthen alignment with internal security policies, standards, and regulatory requirements.

  • Evaluate emerging technologies, security capabilities, and industry trends to identify strategic opportunities for modernization and risk reduction.

  • Contribute to the development and refinement of security policies, standards, roadmaps, and enterprise security strategies in collaboration with senior leaders.

  • Lead and participate in security assessments and audits; identify systemic gaps and design pragmatic, scalable mitigation plans.

  • Provide expert guidance on complex security challenges, applying deep technical judgment and broad architectural experience.

  • Mentor and coach architects, engineers, and analysts to elevate security design maturity across the organization.

  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 10+ years of experience in information security, security architecture, or related technical leadership roles.

  • Demonstrated expertise in enterprise security architecture, risk management, and modern security control frameworks.

  • Proven experience collaborating with application development, database engineering, networking, and infrastructure teams.

  • Ability to analyze complex technical environments, develop actionable recommendations, and influence decisionmaking at multiple levels.

  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to convey complex concepts clearly, respectfully, and effectively across diverse audiences.

  • A calm, professional, and empathetic approach when partnering with colleagues and end users.

  • Strong crossfunctional collaboration skills with the ability to build alignment and drive outcomes.

  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including coaching, mentoring, and guiding technical teams.
