Risk Consulting Specialist


Location: Prefer NJ but open to Remote (U.S.) for the right candidate

Contract to hire: Potentially no guarantees
Duration: 18-Month Contract


Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Risk Consulting Specialist to support clients in maintaining Workers' Compensation Qualified Self-Insurance status and compliance with state-specific reporting requirements. This role is responsible for coordinating quarterly and annual filings across multiple states, ensuring strict compliance with regulatory deadlines, and serving as a key point of contact for clients throughout the reporting process.

The ideal candidate has experience managing multi-state workers' compensation filings within a corporate risk management, HR, payroll, insurance brokerage, consulting, or regulatory environment.


Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain reporting schedules for multiple clients across various states.
  • Coordinate the collection of payroll data, class codes, hours worked, loss information, financial statements, and other required documentation.
  • Follow up with clients, TPAs, and other stakeholders to ensure all required information is received before regulatory deadlines.
  • Submit and update required information through state reporting portals.
  • Guide clients through certification and submission processes within state web portals.
  • Provide instructions regarding state payment requirements and filing obligations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all communications, filings, actuarial reports, proof of payments, and supporting documentation.
  • Assist clients with adding new entities to state self-insurance programs when needed.
  • Review surety bond and security requirements with various states and coordinate requested updates.
  • Provide actuarial reports and supporting documentation requested by state agencies.


Qualifications

  • Experience managing Workers' Compensation Qualified Self-Insurance filings or similar regulatory reporting.
  • Experience coordinating quarterly and annual filings across multiple states.
  • Knowledge of workers' compensation regulations, self-insurance programs, and state compliance requirements.
  • Experience working within Risk Management, Human Resources, Payroll, Insurance Brokerage, Consulting, Third-Party Administration (TPA), or a state regulatory agency.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.
  • Excellent attention to detail and documentation skills.
  • Comfortable communicating with clients and regulatory agencies.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Experience using state reporting portals is highly preferred.
