*Currently we are seeking an SBA Relationship Manager for a temporarily remote position in the Boise, ID area. Occasional travel to Gesa locations may be required to fulfill job requirements. *
Role Summary:
Gesa Credit Union is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Small Business Administration (SBA) Relationship Manager to join our dynamic team. The SBA Relationship Manager reports to the SBA Sales Manager or SBA Lending Manager. The SBA Relationship Manager (RM) is responsible for establishing, developing, and retaining customer relationships through referrals and business development. The RM will primarily market SBA loan guarantee programs such as 7(a), Express, SBA 504 and other government guarantee programs with emphasis on client contact and origination. This position will be a resource to the commercial team in each region to field SBA specific referrals. Successful candidates in the role must be able to engage in conversations that are client focused, easy to understand and lead to a solution that solves the financial problems for clients. In this role, you will analyze and financial data related to loan requests, including lines of credit, commercial real estate, working capital, equipment financing, loans for business start-ups, and business acquisitions, which typically would require a government guarantee.
What You Will Be Doing:
  1. Responsible for the annual production of $6 million or more, in government guaranteed SBA 7(A) loans. The typical mix of deals is 75% 7a and 25% 504 deals. Other goals for business deposits and treasury management services will also be required.
  2. Be knowledgeable of and promote all credit union products and services with active referrals to credit union partners.
  3. Makes a substantial number of outside, in-person calls on prospects and clients requiring extensive automobile travel.
  4. Develops and maintains a referral source database for both local and the credit unions overall SBA marketing purposes.
  5. Accept credit applications, interview loan applicants, review applications and credit histories.
  6. Evaluate existing and projected company cash flow.
  7. Ability to structure an SBA Loan: Develop and present loan proposals, including terms, conditions, and repayment structures, that align with both SBA requirements and the needs of the business.
  8. Collaborate with the credit underwriting team to evaluate loan applications, assess risk, collateral and make recommendations for loan approval.
  9. Maintain existing customer relationships; develop and expand new customer relationships.
  10. Prepare detailed, complete, loan approval presentations for new credit applications, extensions, modifications, and renewal requests.
  11. Monitor loans through periodic reviews and documentation in conjunction with Portfolio Manager, SBA Credit Analyst/Underwriter, and/or as requested.
  12. Collect past due accounts and/or support SBA Lending Manager/Portfolio Manager in the collection of accounts.
  13. Properly maintain credit files including file memos updating the status of the client relationship. Maintain knowledge of and compliance with banking / credit union regulations including internal credit union policies.
  14. Responsible and accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and personally following policies and procedures as defined. Accountable for always doing the right thing for customers and colleagues and ensures that actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience. While operating within the Credit Unions risk appetite, achieves results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types.
  15. Serve as a liaison between branches and commercial loan officers to respond to referrals for new SBA business.
  16. Maintain and protect all sensitive data utilizing the highest standard of confidentiality and professionalism.
  17. Perform assigned duties in accordance with Gesa Credit Union and the SBA's Mission, Vision, and Core Values; and provide the members with timely, responsive and exceptional service in accordance with the credit union's customer service standards. Provide exceptional, timely, and responsive customer service to both internal members/teams as well as external partnerships and members.
  18. Understanding of the SBA Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), including origination, servicing, and liquidation.
  19. Perform job duties with limited daily supervision, exercising a high level of discretion and sound judgment.

  5. Proficient computer skills with collaboration and productivity tools including Windows-based operating systems and office suites (Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel) applications to organize data used for advanced data analysis; internet; email; and bank software.
  6. Ability to utilize technology to communicate effectively.
  7. Display leadership values such as mutual respect, honesty, trust and dignity, and act in the best interest of the credit union. Always display solid ethics and integrity.
  8. Ability to understand small business relationships and provide options that will meet their needs.
  9. Ability to converse with business owners.
  10. Ability to achieve a high sales level in business development and cross sales.
  11. Ability to organize, prioritize and respond simultaneously to multiple tasks and requests.
  12. Ability to work well in and contribute to a cohesive team environment.
  13. Effectively communicate ideas and information, both verbal and written.
  14. Display and maintain courtesy, tact and diplomacy with current and potential vendors, peers, and staff.

What You Will Need:
  1. One (1) to two (2) years of commercial lending relationship management with a preferable emphasis on SBA lending.
  2. Basic Treasury Management product knowledge is preferred.
  3. Ability to interpret financial statements and credit analysis.
  4. Demonstrate excellent customer service via phone, email, and in-person and excellent communication and organizational skills.
  5. Proficiency with standard office equipment and business software.
  6. Some travel is required to develop markets, attend credit union training, site visits, attend SBA specific training, and fulfill duties.
  7. High energy level and ability to sell to customers' needs.
  8. Ability to close, prospect and have sales planning.
  9. Analytical and problem-solving skills with prior consumer, and commercial lending experience, wide-ranging and in-depth knowledge of industry practices.
  10. High school diploma or GED. Some college with focus on accounting, finance, or general business

Full Salary Range:
