Job description

About the Opportunity: A growing organization has partnered with Alliance Workforce Solutions, a veteran- and woman-owned staffing firm, to hire a Medical Design Director to lead and oversee deployable healthcare system operations. This role is critical in supporting disaster response and medical readiness through innovative, mobile healthcare solutions.

WHAT THIS ROLE REALLY IS:
This isn’t your typical “medical” role.
It’s not your standard “engineering” role either.
It’s a rare hybrid:
• Healthcare infrastructure expert
• Field operations leader
• Disaster response specialist
Think: someone who can build a fully functional hospital anywhere in the world — and make sure it performs under pressure.

WHAT THIS ROLE ACTUALLY DOES
Designs mobile & deployable hospitals
From tents to modular units — creating ICU-ready environments in parking lots, remote areas, or disaster zones.
Owns oxygen & medical gas systems (mission-critical)
If these systems fail, lives are at risk. This is precision engineering at its highest level.
Builds negative pressure & isolation environments
Containing airborne diseases like COVID, TB, and other biohazards.
Troubleshoots EVERYTHING
Electrical, plumbing, IT, oxygen systems — when something breaks, they fix it fast.
Creates engineering documentation
CAD drawings, system layouts, and repeatable processes that ensure compliance and scalability.
Deploys into the field
This is boots-on-the-ground work — not a desk job.
Leads across teams
Working with doctors, engineers, FEMA, and operations — this is a true leadership role.

WHO THIS PERSON IS
Highly technical
Calm under pressure
Field-tested (not just theoretical)
Mission-driven
Thrives in high-stakes environments
Common backgrounds:
• Military
• Disaster response
• Healthcare construction

“This is a leadership role where you’d be designing and deploying mobile healthcare systems used in disaster response—essentially building hospitals where they’re needed most. It combines engineering, field operations, and mission-critical healthcare.”
