Job description

Job Title: Senior Project Manager (IT)
Duration: 5 Months
Location: Remote (Canada-based, occasional onsite meetings in Edmonton)
Working Hours: 08:15 – 16:30 (Monday–Friday)


Overview: We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Project Manager (IT) to lead and coordinate multiple high-priority, concurrent initiatives. This role requires strong leadership, vendor coordination, stakeholder engagement, and the ability to manage complex project streams while ensuring alignment with organizational goals and timelines.

The successful candidate will oversee project delivery, support ongoing technology initiatives, and provide strategic reporting and decision support to senior leadership.


Project Overview: This role will support multiple initiatives, including:

  • Completion of Service Desk automation and intelligence enhancements
  • Expansion of a Boardroom-as-a-Service solution across multiple business units
  • Analysis and optimization initiative focused on application usage and cost efficiency

The role involves coordinating vendors, managing deliverables, supporting governance processes, and ensuring smooth transition into operational states.


Scope of Services

  • Provide end-to-end project management across multiple concurrent initiatives
  • Lead planning, scheduling, execution, and monitoring of project activities
  • Manage stakeholder communication, vendor relationships, and procurement coordination
  • Oversee governance reporting, risk management, and issue resolution
  • Support transition planning and operational readiness

Key Responsibilities

Project Delivery

  • Lead IT projects from initiation through completion
  • Develop project charters, business cases, and detailed project plans
  • Define scope, objectives, timelines, and resource requirements
  • Manage multiple projects, priorities, and deliverables simultaneously

Stakeholder & Vendor Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, vendors, and cross-functional teams
  • Ensure effective communication and alignment throughout project lifecycle
  • Escalate risks and issues appropriately

Planning & Execution

  • Develop schedules, work plans, and resource allocation strategies
  • Monitor progress and ensure delivery within scope, timeline, and budget
  • Take corrective actions when necessary to keep projects on track

Reporting & Governance

  • Prepare and deliver project status reports to senior leadership
  • Maintain risk and issue logs and ensure timely resolution
  • Support governance processes and steering committee updates

Documentation & Compliance

  • Document business and technical requirements
  • Ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture standards
  • Develop and present deliverables for stakeholder review

Change Management & Continuous Improvement

  • Support change management and communication efforts
  • Assess project outcomes and recommend improvements
  • Provide leadership and guidance to project teams

Innovation

  • Utilize AI tools to enhance reporting efficiency and project productivity

Required Qualifications

  • Extensive experience managing complex IT projects across multiple workstreams
  • Proven ability to manage concurrent initiatives in fast-paced environments
  • Strong experience in stakeholder engagement and vendor coordination
  • Expertise in project planning, governance, risk, and issue management
  • Excellent communication and executive reporting skills
  • Experience working within structured project management frameworks or PMO environments

Work Environment & Requirements

  • Primarily remote role; occasional onsite meetings may be required with advance notice
  • Work must be performed within Canada due to data security requirements
