Electrical Design Engineer
Location: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (Onsite)
  • Hybrid Flex Monday and Fridays Remote after training.
Role Overview
We design and develop a wide variety of world-class gas detection instruments, sensors, accessories, and infrastructure for worker connectivity and remote management. Our designs include mixed-signal embedded computing technology, mechanical packaging, and user-interfaces. An Electrical Design Engineer is a skilled professional who designs large-scale electrical engineering projects and will often serve as the Lead Electrical Engineer in the product development process.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design analog and digital hardware and PCBs to receive agency approvals (UL, CSA, ATEX, IEC, MSHA, etc.).
  • Perform schematic design and layout level designs.
  • Define and execute system-level specifications and requirements.
  • Establish the strategic direction of electrical designs.
  • Develop technical design documentation.
  • Troubleshoot new and legacy designs.
  • Follow, enforce, and mature the corporate engineering processes.
  • Develop and present materials for design reviews and champion design for manufacturability, reliability, and serviceability.
  • Design legacy product upgrades.
  • Train in the technical use and servicing of new designs.
  • Participate collaboratively in cross-functional product development teams.
  • Act as the central liaison with quality assurance during product testing.
Required Qualifications
Education: Minimum BSEE from an accredited engineering college or university.
Experience: Ideally 2+ years of experience in the circuit design field.
Technical Skills: Proven success with low-level analog circuit design and digital hardware design with micro-controllers. Ability to develop schematics and layout in Altium or other software. Demonstrated analytical skills and the ability to work as part of a team while also meeting individual responsibilities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • MSEE from an accredited engineering college or university.
  • 5+ years of experience.
  • Intrinsic safety design.
  • RF design and/or wireless technology integration.
  • Experience with battery technologies.
  • Embedded programming.
  • Spice circuit simulation and signal integrity.
  • Demonstrated understanding of safety-critical embedded system design.
  • Project management skills.
