Moog is seeking an experienced Senior Field Service Engineer to support the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and ongoing operation of sophisticated electronic, electrical, and electromechanical systems supporting both civil and military customers. This role is highly customer-facing and plays a critical part in ensuring system performance, safety, and long-term customer satisfaction in demanding environments.
The Senior Field Service Engineer serves as a technical expert, trainer, and trusted customer partner, working closely with Program Management, Engineering, Sales, and Operations. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys problem-solving in the field, mentoring others, and working with advanced technology at customer sites in mission-critical settings.
As a Senior Field Service Engineer, you will:
  • Install, commission, and calibrate electronic and control-based systems at customer sites.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex electrical, mechanical, and software-related issues in fielded equipment.
  • Perform factory acceptance tests (FATs), site acceptance tests (SATs), and support customer validation activities using established procedures and test equipment.
  • Provide timely, professional technical support to customers on-site and remotely (phone/email), including outside normal business hours as needed to minimize downtime.
  • Interface directly with customers to quickly and thoroughly analyze problems and implement effective solutions.
  • Complete detailed service reports documenting work performed, system history, and recommendations for design improvements, obsolescence mitigation, or serviceability enhancements.
  • Develop and deliver technical training for customers and internal teams, including formal classroom and hands-on instruction.
  • Assist in the development of training materials and curriculum, including "train-the-trainer" content.
  • Maintain a strong focus on safety when working around high-voltage systems, moving equipment, and other potential hazards.
  • Support proposal development by providing technical input, cost estimates, and installation/service recommendations.
  • Support Sales and Business Development through technical expertise at customer meetings, industry trade shows, and field demonstrations in civil and military environments.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Program Management, and Manufacturing to resolve issues and improve products and processes.

To be considered for this role, here's what you'll typically bring with you:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline; or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • 5 or more years of hands-on experience installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting complex electronic or electromechanical systems.
  • Strong understanding of test and measurement equipment, such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, and power meters.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot system-level issues involving hardware, software, and interfaces.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 50%, including domestic and international assignments, sometimes on short notice.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs and safely use specialized tools and equipment.

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience supporting or working within a military airfield or defense aviation environment.
  • Familiarity with navigation, surveillance, RF, or airfield systems.

Salary Range Transparency:
Buffalo, NY $95,000.00-$140,000.00 Annually
