Job description

Summary
You will serve as a TECHNICIAN in the Expeditionary Warfare Weapons & Energy Systems Department (JX), Weapon Systems Fleet Engineering Division (JXN), Naval Weapons Branch (JXNR) of NAVAL SURFACE WARFARE CENTER.
This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project.
The NT-04 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to the GS-11 and GS-12.

  • You will serve as the lead trainer for Blue Water Navy Armorer course to support all U.S. Navy small arms weapons training.
  • You will manage the training schedule for all Blue Water Navy Armorers courses along with supporting other training requirement for Coast Guard, Marine Corps, and SOCOM.
  • You will be required to provide cost estimates to customers along with developing new training based on service common small arms weapon changes and additions.
  • You will be responsible for maintaining secondary instructors credentials ensuring that they are fully trained and certified on all required weapons.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-03 (GS-09/10 equivalent) pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: providing technical guidance on the development of numerous warfare weapons systems training by analyzing program effectiveness and implementing improvements to ensure training standards and requirements are met.
