Remote Retail Management information

What is remote retail management?

A Remote Retail Management job involves overseeing retail operations, sales, and team performance from a remote location. Responsibilities may include inventory management, staff supervision, customer service, and sales strategy implementation. Managers use digital tools to monitor performance, communicate with teams, and optimize processes. This role requires strong leadership, organization, and adaptability to ensure efficiency without being physically present in a store.

What are some typical challenges faced in remote retail management and how can they be addressed?

In remote retail management, one common challenge is maintaining effective communication and oversight across geographically dispersed store teams. Managers rely heavily on digital tools for performance monitoring, training, and problem resolution, which can sometimes make team cohesion and real-time support more difficult. Addressing these challenges involves establishing clear communication protocols, leveraging collaborative technologies, and scheduling regular virtual check-ins with store staff. Proactive engagement and transparent leadership help ensure team alignment and effective operations, even when working from a distance.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in remote retail management?

To excel in Remote Retail Management, you need strong retail operations expertise, leadership experience, and typically a bachelor’s degree in business, retail management, or a related field. Familiarity with retail management systems, inventory software, and virtual collaboration platforms is essential for effective oversight. Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills distinguish top performers in a remote setting. Mastering these skills ensures managers can efficiently lead dispersed teams, maintain smooth operations, and drive sales from a distance.

Affiliate & Partnerships Manager (Remote)

Odd Bunch

Toronto, ON • Remote

Job description

Reports to: Founder & CEO
Direct reports: None
Location: Canada (Remote) - Toronto area preferred

About Odd Bunch

Odd Bunch is on a mission to make groceries more affordable and accessible across Canada and beyond. We are a fast-growing, sustainable, subscription-based produce service, helping Canadians save thousands of dollars on their grocery bills, supporting local farmers, fighting food waste, donating to families facing food insecurity, and building a better planet in the process.

About the Role

Odd Bunch has built one of the strongest growth engines in its affiliate and ambassador program, now our most efficient acquisition channel. We're launching in the US and scaling the program aggressively across all three markets.

We're looking for someone who has built this function rather than inherited one. You'll own the channel end to end: the revenue number, the economics underneath it, the creator roster that drives it, the content library it produces, and the offline activations that support it.

This is a player-coach role. You'll set the strategy and then execute it alongside a small team in a lean environment. The person who does well here is comfortable working in a cohort retention report and at a sampling activation in the same week.

What You'll Own
  • Program strategy and targets: own affiliate revenue as a number you're accountable for, alongside CPA discipline (currently a $25 to $30 band), payback period, and LTV. You'll set the targets and flag early when they need to change.
  • Unit economics: run the channel on contribution margin and LTV:CAC rather than last-click revenue. Understand cohort behaviour well enough to know which creators bring subscribers who retain and which bring subscribers who churn early, and shift spend accordingly.
  • Global go-to-market: lead the program across all three markets, covering creator sourcing, platforms (Roster, Upfluence, AWIN), gifting and PR, and partnerships. Heavy strategic focus on TikTok and TikTok Shop to drive US market entry.
  • Creator roster and lifecycle: build the progression from customer to ambassador to affiliate to top-tier creator. Own onboarding throughput, since time from first contact to first post largely determines how fast the channel can grow. Develop the mid-tail deliberately so revenue isn't concentrated in a handful of relationships.
  • Creative pipeline: treat the content the program generates as a core asset. Build the whitelisting and creator-asset pipeline that feeds paid social, and measure yourself on blended CAC impact alongside the affiliate line.
  • Product seeding and cross-sell: use creators to seed adjacent products, including our Pantry line, as a lower-friction entry point into the core subscription and as an AOV expander for existing subscribers. Build the loop where each product drives demand for the other rather than competing with it.
  • In-real-life events and activations: own the offline side of the program, including sampling, farmers markets, food and wellness festivals, community events, pop-ups, and retail activations. Run creator trips and creator-house programming that produces content at volume. These serve brand, acquisition and content goals together, and you'll be measured across all three.
  • Creator compensation: design and test compensation models, including commission, flat fee, guarantees and tiered leaderboards, that scale profitably. Own rate card discipline and negotiation across a large number of relationships.
  • Attribution and incrementality: own the affiliate stack (Upfluence, AWIN, Roster, Triple Whale) and understand its limits. Run holdouts and geo tests where it matters, and tell leadership when a channel is less incremental than reported.
  • Hands-on leadership: manage and work alongside the affiliate team, coaching through reporting and reliability gaps while carrying your own workload. On a team this size the strategist is also an operator.
  • Leadership reporting: deliver a data-backed weekly and bi-weekly narrative with insight and recommendations rather than raw status, including a clear point of view you're prepared to discuss.
  • Top-performer relationships: retain and grow the creators driving most of the revenue, and manage concentration risk actively
What You Bring
  • 5-7 years in affiliate, influencer, or partnerships marketing, with direct ownership of a revenue number. DTC or e-commerce CPG preferred.
  • Experience building or rebuilding a program. You can describe what it looked like when you arrived, what you changed, and what the numbers did afterwards.
  • Fluency in growth metrics. CAC, blended CAC, LTV, LTV:CAC, payback period, contribution margin and retention by cohort are part of how you think about the channel, not just how you report on it.
  • New-market launch experience. US launch experience and fluency in TikTok Shop strategy are strongly preferred.
  • Events and activations experience. You've run offline activations and creator trips, and you have a view on which formats actually convert.
  • Creator-led product seeding. You've used creators to launch or grow a secondary SKU, and you understand how to make it support the core product rather than cannibalise it.
  • People leadership: you've managed or closely mentored marketers and can coach through reporting and reliability gaps.
  • Strong stakeholder communication: you turn data into a clear point of view, present it plainly to leadership, and can support it when questioned.
  • Platform and attribution fluency: Upfluence, AWIN, Impact, Roster, Triple Whale or equivalents. Comfortable building AI and automation into your own workflow.
  • Operator's reliability: you own commitments end to end, flag risk early, and are willing to stop things that aren't working.
Benefits
  • Free grocery plan
  • Bi-annual performance bonus tied to company and individual targets
  • Health plan available after 3 months
  • RRSP available at 12 months
  • 20 days Paid Time Off (PTO)
  • Fully remote within Canada, with flexible hours
  • Strong potential for growth within the company
