The purpose of the class is to provide responsible and confidential paraprofessional work in support of the professional legal staff of the Commonwealth's Attorney's Office. The class works under general supervision according to set procedures but determines how or when to complete tasks. *This position does not have remote work or telework options and will remain open until filled.

Minimum Requirements Completion of a paralegal program recognized by the American Bar Association or graduation from a college or university with a related Associate's or Bachelor's degree A minimum of two (2) years of full-time equivalent paralegal work or closely related experience. A combination of education and experience may be considered for this position. Must successfully pass a background check related to this position prior to any offer of employment or promotion.

Additional Requirements The incumbent may be considered "essential personnel" during City emergency situations or at the direction of the City Manager which may include long hours and unusual schedules. Drafts routine legal documents under direct attorney supervision; prepares and drafts briefs, opinions, proceedings, motions, orders, complaints, affidavits, subpoena, and other documents to facilitate legal action or construct a case file under attorney supervision. Provides litigation support from initial receipt of arrest warrant through discovery and trial including, but not limited to, preparation of case-related pleadings and documents, preparation of subpoenas, case management data entry, statistical collection and data entry, and other duties as assigned. Files legal documents with courts and administrative agencies.

Responds to routine information requests from other City departments, criminal justice agencies, and the public. Demonstrates regular and punctual attendance. Performs other related duties as required.
