Job description

As a Vice President of National Accounts for Bunzl’s Redistribution/R3 division, you will lead a team of National Account Managers. Through your leadership, this team will be responsible for the development, market penetration, and profitable growth of a portfolio of National Account customers.

In this role, you will develop and lead a strong business strategy and hold your National Account Manager team accountable for executing the strategy, to grow top line sales. To be successful in this position, your business plan, goals and KPIs will align with core Bunzl Sales strategies - including prioritizing sales of Own Brands and Preferred Brand products. You will have the opportunity to develop and direct the team’s capabilities (teach, train, coach & motivate), develop and drive strategy, support large account business development and ensure overall goals are met.

Bunzl's product mix will include a variety of disposable products including paper products, packaging, janitorial supplies, safety, sanitation, and food service items. As part of our Redistribution/R3 segment, you will support a customer base of national, regional and local broadline distributors that sell our products to hotels, restaurants, entertainment venues and resorts.

This is a U.S.-based remote position, and the role may be located anywhere in the country based on business needs and customer locations. The successful candidate will need to live in close proximity to a major airport and should expect approximately 40% travel, including overnight stays.
 

Responsibilities:

  • Direct leadership and development of 5-10 National Account Mangers of support them in role and promote their career skills and growth within the broader organization;
  • Present strategic plans to grow national opportunities within the segment and meet top line goals through the National Account Team;
  • Understand and present the Bunzl’s sales programs seamlessly;
  • Work to develop and enhance customer loyalty and to strengthen relationships within the portfolio;
  • Support National Account Managers (NAMs) as they negotiate long term contracts;
  • Regularly conduct Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) to improve overall connection with Bunzl leadership;
  • Oversee the profitability and growth of the team’s customers;
  • Plan and forecast business needs on key initiatives provided by senior leadership;
  • Continually gather, analyzes, and presents competitive information to senior leadership;
  • Conduct Bi-weekly meetings with the team to promote best practices and promote competition within the sales team;
  • Meet and exceed organizational budgets for growth;
  • Coordinate monthly one on one’s with team members to review their pipelines;
  • Organize monthly reviews with Regional Vice Presidents to ensure alignment on account activity;
  • Compile a monthly review of profitability and sales by customer leveraging Power BI dashboards to review with senior leadership;
  • Provide a monthly review of new closed sales and opportunities that need help getting over the goal line;
  • Work with HR to oversee the people functions of the team you lead including development, promotion, hiring, ext.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business related field or equivalent amount of applicable experience required;
  • Master’s Degree a plus;
  • 10+ years Sales/account management experience;
  • Previous people leadership experience or strong demonstrated peer leadership;
  • Ability to leverage Analytical/Financial skills to make business decisions;
  • Understanding of financial modeling and cost accounting;
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute a sales plan;
  • Demonstrated ability in Windows Operation system environment required and prior knowledge with AS400 systems strongly preferred;
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to grow business profitability;
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team concept;

  • Bunzl U.S. target salary range: $130,000- $180,000 (+ annual bonus & car allowance), based on experience, education, and geographic location.
  • Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance available to employees and eligible dependents starting the first day of the month after 30 days of employment (unless otherwise specified by a collective bargaining agreement).
  • 401(k) retirement plan with a generous company match of $0.75 per $1.00 contributed, up to 6% of eligible pay, available after 30 days.
  • Paid time off, including:
    • 10 vacation days and 2 personal days annually (prorated in the first year based on hire date).
    • 40 hours of sick leave per year, (56 hours of sick leave if hired in WA, in accordance with Washington State law.)
    • 6 paid national holidays and 2 floating holidays annually.
