Job description

Our team is expanding, and we are now seeking a Building Information Modeling (BIM) Technician to support our construction and engineering teams through advanced 3D modeling and coordination. This role involves creating and maintaining accurate BIM models of electrical design and components, integrating multidisciplinary design data, and performing clash detection to ensure constructability. The BIM Technician will generate construction documentation, assist with project planning, and provide visualizations and reports that enhance decision-making. Success in this role requires proficiency in BIM tools, strong communication skills, and a solid understanding of electrical and/or construction practices and standards.

This position is eligible to be fully remote or for work out of our Lexington, KY HQ or our Greenville, SC office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • 3D Modeling:Creating and updating detailed 3D models of electrical systems using BIM software

  • Model Coordination:Integrating design information from various disciplines (structural, mechanical, electrical, etc.) into the 3D model

  • Clash Detection:Identifying and resolving spatial conflicts or clashes between different building components using clash detection tools

  • Construction Documentation:Generating drawings, schedules, and visualizations from the 3D model to support construction planning and execution

  • Maintaining and Updating Models:Ensuring the BIM model remains current with design changes and project updates

  • Collaboration:Working closely with VDC project managers, engineers, supers and construction PMs to ensure alignment between digital designs and on-site realities

  • Supporting Project Teams:Providing 3D visualizations, clash reports, and other information to aid decision-making and project execution

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in BIM software such as Revit, Evolve, ACC, Solidworks, or Navisworks

  • Ability to create detailed 2D drawings from 3D models

  • Sound understanding of construction methods and terminology, building codes, and industry standards

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

  • Ability to analyze and interpret design information

  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Ability to create/modify basic Revit families

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and meet deadlines
